i really loved the meat so I'm conflicted in writing this but the broth is too oily to the point my throat felt bad entire night... the meat is though the best I've had in any ramen place in bay area
Not sure why this Ramen is highly rated, none of us really liked it. I myself had the vegan ramen, the flavor was meh.

4.4/5
soup was really good, and the spice complements well with the soup
the pork was a bit dry, and a bit flavorless
The noodles have a good bite, but they look white, as if no eggs are added? But it’s still delicious!
I didn’t expect such a good Ramen outside of asia

I had higher expectations for the namesake of a ramen shop in Japantown. While the egg was good, the flavor profile of the ramen did not live up to my expectations. It was edible, and the service was good, but we won't be going back.

Great food even tho it’s quite expensive, but the service is pretty rude. They Sheppard you in and out WAY to fast. They drop the pay terminal on your table before you’ve even finished your drinks and we literally got told to leave because people “people are waiting for tables” but we were only there for 35m. I get that you want business but they rush customer WAY too much here. It’s not relaxing. They see you as a bill to be payed, not a dining guest.

This place is certainly popular and comes recommended by multiple sources, but I must say we were pretty disappointed. The atmosphere is good and staff are all on-the-ball, trying to get as many customers in-and-out, which is fine.
Unfortunately, the food just wasn't good - and we tried 4 different dishes! The karaage is off - just not authentic. The gyoza, you can get better gyoza frozen - Bibigo's "mandu" variety, for one, is better. The ramen? Just lacking a rich salty, dashi, umami-ness to it... And believe me, I lived in Japan for 6 years and lost track of how many bowls of ramen I've eaten over a decade ago, by now...
By all means, if this place is your style and "good enough" to your taste, then go for it - the location, atmosphere and service are great, but if you're looking for the "real deal"... this just isn't it...

If you’re looking for an okay bowl of ramen this isn’t a bad choice. If you’ve had authentic ramen this place won’t exactly scratch your itch but it’s definitely filling and satisfying. Don’t let that stop you from coming if you’d like to give ramen a try though! Decent selection and still good flavors. Atmosphere is very cozy and gives a similar vibe to what you’d expect in Japan. Prices are ~20 a bowl. Came with a party of 6. 30-45 minute wait on a weekend evening.

This place has gluten free noodles on the menu but can’t make you a gluten free soup. It’s absolutely irresponsible to advertise gluten free noodles when there is literally nothing to eat on this menu.

The old lady didn't want me to join my family despite there being no one was waiting to enter the restaurant. My family was in a 4 person table, 3 of them are already seated and have just ordered. So I left and told my family I'll just order somewhere else. I walked around that floor a bit and came back for my 88yo mom didn't understand why I can't join them. We insisted that I join them and the old lady reluctantly, huffing agreed. It was a terrible experience.

Deceptively lists menu price. Adds a fee (not a tax) called "SF health mandate" to the price. This is a restaurant set fee designed to unfairly hide the true price of a menu item.
Due to their dishonesty, 1 star.

A lil overrated. Other better places for ramen in the city. Also way tooo much arugula in the veggie ones. Noodle quality is mid.

Not worth the wait. Very disappointing vegetarian ramen. Overcooked ramen probably because they are spinach ramen, weird way to get veggies and the broth was bla. Not a place for a relaxing meal as it is so incredibly noisy and you are hustled out the door half finished. I know in Japan you slurp down your soup and leave, so this is the concept here, but in this city there are much better ramen spots.
