A must try when in SF. I have had some of the best sushi from Japan and believe me when I say Maruya is spot on. From the classy upscale japanese ambience to its outstanding staff and ownership, you simply cannot find better sushi anywhere else that rivals Maruya in The Bay area and even some locals in Japan. Japanese Imported fish makes all the difference. You will enjoy a relaxed, calming dining experience that will put you at ease and one you will cherish. But, hey -don't just take my word for it. Get to Maruya and see for yourself. It is most certainly worth it! Oh and don't forget the sake...ENJOY!

My meal at Maruya was out of this world. The food was all delicious - each course was unique and well-prepared, and all of the fish was fresh and seasoned to perfection. I was blown away in particular by the unagi - might be the best I've ever had. The service from Ray was top notch. I appreciated how attentive and friendly he was throughout the entire meal.I highly recommend Maruya (and will be doing so to all my friends!)
We love trying different omakase in S.F., and this one was particularly excellent—interesting, unexpected, delicious. We had the nigiri omakase option, and the fish was excellent, on par with other high end sushi restaurants in S.F. But what really stood out were the vegetarian courses in the meal. Each was perfectly prepared, with subtle yet complex flavors. Every small dish was exquisite and completely different. The food was beautifully presented and the service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. It was a cold night, and the waiter brought us fresh mugs of steaming green tea again and again. Even the tea was particularly high quality and well prepared—flavorful with no bitterness. Of the many Japanese restaurants we have tried in S.F. and elsewhere outside of Japan, this one seemed wonderfully authentic. Reminded us of meals at minshukus in Japan with so many little dishes, each a delight. Will definitely return.
Great neighborhood sushi spot. Unpretentious and warm service. Fish was incredibly fresh and impeccably prepared. Best authentic sushi experience I've had in SF. Lots of care taken with every part of the meal. Very legit. Highly recommend.
Delicious inventive sushi. Loved our meal here, and the service was top-notch. They had an interesting choice of music, but everything was fantastic. We'll definitely be back.
The neighborhood improves a lot compare to 3 yrs ago. The shop is still hard to find in the dark...lol. 3 tables at 7 on Friday. The food is decent. Very nice presentation but portion is on the elegant side...the service is amazing.

Just normal quality. Nothing special. Not even a traditional omakase but more like a teishoku.Would recommend if it’s a $60 meal, but for $100+, I would definitely save my money on something else next time.
Great service, great food, great ambiance!
Excellent omakase experience. Service is top notch. Flavors were great. Can’t wait go back!
Best omakase I’ve had at a decent price point. Staff was very friendly, all the courses were amazing. I’ll be heading back
Great sake, service, and vegetarian omakase.
