We had a wonderful dinner with friends at this authentic French restaurant in a difficult Soma neighborhood. Our meal was worth the Uber. Charming, with a lovely outside patio, Mathilde provides personal service. My heirloom tomato salad was fresh and delicious, a perfect start to the dinner. Choosing the Halibut special was a wise choice, the fish prepared perfectly, served over a bed of risotto. The finale deserved a standing ovation, Oeufs à la neige, prepared in the French manner. Ooh La La!

Intimate and unique, Mathilde French Bistro provides a respite in an often too trendy San Francisco dining scene. Only beer and wine is served by the way.

The onion soup is the best I've had in over a decade! The duck leg confit was very salty. Our server (might have been head server) was great!

Excellent French bistro fare - steak frites, beet salad, chocolate bread pudding. Exceptional service under stressful conditions as there was a huge conference in town, and there were very loud large parties throughout the restaurant. Felt sorry for the couples who were expecting a quiet French cafe. However, the service staff maintained their professionalism & friendliness.

I will start with all the positive. Very cute restaurant. The service was top notch and they were very organized and attentive. I ordered the filet mignon, medium rare and it came medium well. They were very quick to get me something else because I didn't care for the consistency or flavor. The red wine reduction sauce needed a flavor boost, too. I got the black cod fish special and that was very good. Boyfriend got the prawns appetizer and the beef bourginoine and he really liked both. Chairs on the inside seating were very uncomfortable after a short time. Overall a very nice experience!

Delightful experience. A SOMA staple with delicious classic French cuisine in a lovely calm soothing ambiance with impeccable service. The gnocchi was to die for. Pillows of light as a feather generous portions with a savory mushroom onions cheese sauce that could not have been improved on. Definitely should be a mainstay for any one in the neighborhood hood and beyond,

We've enjoyed Mathilde for years--and even before it took over from Les Charme. Food, wine, charcuterie, desserts, and service all excellent. Un petit morceau de Paris.

28th anniversary dinner. Food was excellent, service was attentive but not intrusive, ambience was perfect for a quiet dinner date. We will make this place part of our dinning routine.

Food was amazing as usual. We had a group of 5 and shared sweatbreads, lamb shank, duck confit and risotto. All was incredible. Many wine choices that were reasonably priced. Our server was incredible!!! Best option before the theater!

The food was very good, and the waitress attentive; however, we were headed to a concert and the service was much slower than it should have been. Also- there was no parking nearby ; and the neighborhood was questionable. I had to park in a parking garage 5 blocks away. Due to the proximity to skid row on 6th street, parking on the street was out of the question. In fact, the restaurant was hard to find on 5th at Folsom and I almost missed it.
