Small burger that doesn’t taste and look as in any other fast food but costs 3x that price. Totally not worth it, super overpriced.
even better than I remember: more selection, more gluten-free etc

Hot take. Skip this place. There are plenty of other diners serving so much better food that also play Rock and Roll.
Ordered 2 eggs with sausage. The Food took a long time to come out. It looked like plastic, asked for grilled potatoes, got hash browns instead. Tortillas were as hard as frisbees.
Service was good.
Menu is overpriced.

Classic spot with great vibes!
Stopped at Mel’s Drive In on Lombard for breakfast before hitting the road and it totally hit the spot. I had the avocado toast with poached eggs and bacon on the side super fresh, creamy, and perfectly seasoned. My friend got the breakfast burrito (“burrito bomb”) and loved it. Coffee was hot, service was friendly, and the retro diner atmosphere with the little jukebox at the booth made the whole experience even better.
Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a real San Francisco breakfast experience before a long drive!

The food was terrible. My medium rare steak was a brick, the eggs were hard and the potatoes were raw. The waitress was kind, but whew I couldn't eat the food even if I was drunk.

There were four of us, and everyone really enjoyed the burgers. The shake was also very good, and the service was very attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

My brother and I ate here one morning before the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. We had standard expectations but were honestly blown away by the outstanding service and cleanliness. We were also really impressed by the working manager who kept an eye on everything to make sure things were running smoothly and personally wiping down windows, surfaces, anything that made a difference.

Came for breakfast. Waited 30 minutes for the food. One waiter working the entire restaurant— seating customers, handling all tables and the counter, and acting as cashier. He was great: friendly, calm and efficient— but impossible for him to cope. Also looked like only 2 guys in the kitchen. When they eventually arrived, the eggs were fine. The owner should be ashamed, running a busy place like this with such a skeleton crew. He’s both exploiting his staff and providing a lousy customer experience. Do better!

Always a great place. Great food, served hot and tasty. This time, had the open face roast beef sandwich. It was so good!
