There were three of us, and everything was perfect — the lounge area was amazing, and the music was crazy good! 🎶 Special shoutout to Mezan and Ruta for taking such great care of us — they were so friendly and professional. Grown and sexy vibe. Great for couples, large parties and even singles. Drinks are amazing especially the Bidi Bidi bum bum and Papi G. The staff is friendly and very attentive. Food was amazing. My favs are the steak tibs, sambusas, salmon tiradito and tomahawk but other dishes were really good too. The interior transports you to a jungle-esque garden. Definitely will be back very soon.

I was hesistant to write this review as I’ve been to Meski a few times and have enjoyed the food and ambiance. However, during my most recent dining experience (on October 31), I spotted a huge rat near the kitchen and bar area. I was very frightened and quite shocked given the reputation Meski has created since opening. I was further disturbed by my subsequent conversation with the manager, who was well-aware of the pest problem. The manager shared ongoing construction nearby and work they were doing to mitigate the infiltration of pests into the restaurant. However, this does not justify why they felt it was appropriate to continue servicing individuals without properly resolving the problem. It is a huge health and safety concern, and is quite frankly distasteful seeing street rats while eating. The manager/server attempted to assuage our concerns with a complimentary dessert, which I found a bit strange and inappropriate for such a severe issue. As someone who is originally from nyc and dines frequently there, I understand the challenges of running a restaurant in a large city. However, such does not justify having pests in a restaurant and running business as usual, whether in downtown SF or not. Overall, the way that Meski handled this issue was disappointing and makes me question their ethics knowing that pests are scurrying around their dining room, and potentially kitchen.

I’m writing this specifically because the most expensive item on the menu is the $175 steak and they charge an additional $15 to cut it for you! I have never been to a steakhouse and paid extra for them to cut my steak. I’ll update on the taste of food later.

Awesome food, drinks, service, and ambience! The cocktails were delicious. We tried the tartare, sambusas, oxtail pasta, and sides of rice and injera; every dish was incredible. We ended with the East African donuts, a unique and memorable treat. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a fresh, flavorful fusion experience.
