Travelling in the USA and when in San Francisco, we felt like having some Chinese food. So went to New Ming's which happened to be within walking distance from our hotel. As it was approaching their closing time of 7pm, we could only order take-out.
We were very pleasantly surprised and pleased with the 2 dishes we ordered. They were substantial and very satisfying.
Pity we won't have the opportunity to try their food again, now that we are back home in Australia.

I had a seafood soup there, and it’s far-far from great. It’s low quality udon, badly tasting fish, nearly raw broccoli and overcooked squid (shrimps were ok tho), and the broth is nothing to write home about. For $16 there really are better options. The service was good tho, fast and nice.

Dan Dan noodle soup is the GOAT - thick fricken noods, ground pork, pickled veg, pea shoots in a perfect tart-umami-spicy Sichuan broth

Great service, great food and great location. This is right in the middle of downtown San Francisco and is very convenient.
When I went here, they were not busy as it was slightly past lunch rush. There are lots of really good options to choose from so it was a little bit difficult to decide what to order which is a good thing.
I ended up getting the house fried rice with multiple different kinds of meat. The rice was cooked perfectly and very flavorful, the beef, the chicken and the shrimp are also very flavorful and overall it was a great meal at a great price.

New Ming’s is my family’s favorite Chinese restaurant in SF of all time!

I was in town for a week and I went there three times.

潮色豆腐 ie Tofu with Shrimp + Chicken is our favorite dish, but honestly every dish here is very good.

This is an oasis in the middle of SOMA.

The waitress is very kind and attentive. I’d highly recommend this to everyone.

Beef fried rice. What ever little beef i found was just fat cuts mixed with pork. Just a pile of very wet oily rice

Stopped in because it was on the way back to the office and I didn't want to make the side trip to Chinatown. I ordered BBQ pork wonton ho fun. The five wontons didn't have the bouncy chew and it was mostly pork - no shrimp. The broth was lifeless and the noodles was on the light side - not much. The pork was plentiful - surprisingly - but a bit dry. For the veggie in the soup, spinach. It took longer to come out of the kitchen than I expected. I have a light appetite these days and the dish was filling but not satisfying. When I had a bigger appetite, this would not have been enough. With tax, it was over $18 - OUCH.

The vibe of the place is plain. The food in the warmers looked tasty and their menu had a decent amount of options from the kitchen. If you're in a hurry, just select items from the warmers. The staff was friendly. There was a self serve water spigot.

If this place was out in the mid-west, I might go back to try other items, but with so much competition in the area for the same cuisine, I probably won't go back based on my order.

The place was almost empty, that should have been a sign for me to leave without buying anything, but I went against my instincts.

I asked if the house fried rice and kung pao chicken were good, they said very good... They lied.

The food was very disappointing. Never again.
