I live in Concord but come all the way here for Japanese Curry when I'm in the mood. In my opinion it's the best japanese curry in the bay. Everything is well executed, and even the quality of the pork is top notch.

Oishii!!! I've been meaning to try this place for a while, and I'm so glad I did. We had the pork katsu curry and the oyster kaki curry, and both were delicious. We ordered a katsu sando to go, and it was equally as amazing. Definitely among the best and most authentic Japanese curry I've had in the bay. Also, the proprietors of this place are super nice and gracious. This will definitely be my go to any time I'm in the Marina. I mean, ramen is good and all, but everybody needs to know that Japanese curry is one of THE best comfort foods around.

We went here expecting to be pleased given the generally good reviews, however the pork curry bowl, the shrimp curry bowl and the chicken karaage were all mediocre. The curry wasn’t bad, but nothing to come back for. The fried shrimp was also far from the best I’ve had.Lastly, it’s overpriced for what it is.Wheelchair accessibility: Yea, ramp to front door

Clean, quaint, simple, and flavorful Japanese style curry. I had the mackerel curry with vegetables on the side, I think it would be great for them to have a dish with both protein and vegetable.

Finally tried this place after walking by it all the time and it was amazing! I tried the chicken katsu curry and it was soo flavorful, the ultimate comfort food. The place was pretty spacious with lots of seatings available and the cashier was nice. Can't wait to go back!

Such good food here!! Tastes exactly like the curry I had in Japan, and I have to say to say this was the best service I’ve experienced in all of SF so far. The owners and workers are so sweet and kind, and make you feel very welcome. Definitely worth it for the price.

The food here is SO GOOD. By far the best curry I've had so far in SF, and the service here is the best!! This place has the nicest workers and staff, and will definitely come back here. Curry tastes super authentic and just like the ones in Japan.

The flavor of their curry is top tier. Where others may be more fruit forward , this is a very meaty flavor. We would come back because again their chicken is great and non gristley yet juicy. We both enjoyed the pumpkin croquettes and would come back for that nice earthy yet subtlety sweet flavor. I liked the crab croquettes but I don't think I'd come back for it again. It's very fish flavor forward which may not be for everyone. I love their selection of alcohols as their very cute design adds to the ambiance. The staff are very friendly and timely. One guy was absolutely flying through all the to go orders. While the place is huge and plenty of seating, The only downside to this place is that they have high ceilings and super loud echos. Each person talking adds to the reverb that you hear. Overall, great place, our favorite even.

Probably the best AND authentic Japanese curry in the city. We ordered the chicken katsu curry and a side of aji fry. As you can see, portion sizes are huge. Both the chicken and fish were perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I love that they drench the dish in curry, which had a hint of spice but you can always increase that by adding some chili powder. As for the ambiance, it's a cozy no frills restaurant. There's a lot of seating and staff was extremely friendly! Definitely coming back, and I won't forget to add on cheese next time :)

Consistently delicious food is served here. Absolutely hits the spot on a cold winter day and just the right spice in the summer.

Hinoya is one of the best Japanese curry I've ever had in the States. It's so decadently rich and with just the right amount of spice. I love their chicken katsu, it's so juicy and crunchy! The service is also impeccable - while we were here, we were helped by two super kind gentlemen who came by to check up on us. They even gave us some good tips on how to enjoy the food more! Even though we and another man were the only people dining in, they cleaned the tables so diligently after customers left. The dining room is really comfortable to sit in so I highly recommend dining in if you can! If you can't, they still make sure you have a great experience by packaging the curry separately from the rice and meat. Overall, I love Hinoya and can't wait to be back!

Was craving curry recently, so decided to stop here after a friend recommended it. I ordered the ebi fry (prawn) curry which was $19 and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The curry was so good (although it was a bit on the spicier side). The tempura shrimp wasn't anything special though, think I'd go for the karaage curry next time which my sister enjoyed!
