Something weird is afoot!? We popped in ( been visiting 16 years) this morning, there were two people there who told us they were closed, when asked if open tomorrow we got a kind of cagey ‘we don’t know’. Check before making the trip!
Not a bad spot besides the fact they charge your credit card for more than your receipt states.
Greatest service, fast and affordable. Good food
We sought out Olympic based on previous reviews and were not disappointed. Our waitress was attentive and quick. She made everything to order, even for our picky teens. My kiddo decided to try a Denver omelette for the first time and ate it all! She really loved the hash browns on the side. I asked for one poached egg and it was served to me still hot. Endless cups of coffee and really good 1970s R&B on the sound system set us up for a good day of sightseeing.
The food (specifically pancakes and potatoes) looks unassuming but it was surprisingly good. Place has a retro diner vibe which I digged as well. Service wasn't the friendliest but it wasn't bad so fine by me.
For this price point, I don't think you can find similar quality anywhere near this area. Good, honest diner food. The food is much better than the better known diner options in the area
Was staying at the hotel across the street that didn't serve a decent breakfast. Came over here and was not disappointed. Had the meat omelette and enjoyed it so much I came back throughout the week I was there. Friendly staff and great service.
I have a weakness for diners, and for years when I stayed in one of the downtown hotels, I'd flee the expensive hotel coffee shop and head to the Olympic diner, where they had chicken-fried steak and an old guy doing the cooking who never changed and the TV blaring Fox News and a lot of duct tape on the seats. Well, back in SF, and where to go for breakfast. No way, no duct tape, no TV, no old guy. The same old place, but fantastically improved, as if you woke up one morning, and instead of being 40, you were 23 again, everything the same, but cleaner, newer, younger, and better. Fantastic food. Great service. Did I mention the food? Nice people. Clean bathrooms. Hurray. Oh, by the way, the food was good. Except no chicken-fried steak.
Very good pancakes. Also not that crowded as the other places around.
Food is amazing. Flavi is very sweet and fast. Thanks for the good food .We gonna back for sure!

Right place to get the American style breakfast! Thanks a lot for great experience!
Staff is terrible! We (2 people) waited almost 1 hour for our food. The place was only half full. After they started serving other tables that arrived after us, I politely asked for our food. The waiter just started being very aggressive and without explanation told us if we wanted to cancel since she didn’t want customers like us. After I asked to cancel and started leaving, she asked me for the money for the coffee (the only thing they brought us in almost an hour) and told me that is how America works. Definitely she was being xenophobic. Other customers at the next table said they were having terrible service also.
The cafe is so retro, clean and friendly. Our server Erica and the line cook made our morning delicious.
The blueberry waffles and french toast were so delicious! Such a treat and cooked fresh in front of you! Fairly priced and would definitely return!
We are breakfast at the Olympic Flame cafe just a few blocks from Union Square during a recent 4 day trip to San Francisco. There are many good options on the menu, we had omelets with country potatoes. The portions are satisfying and the service attentive. It is a clean and well kept diner with reasonable prices.
