Facilities good but small. Area around there is bad and dangerous. Dinner at popup restaurant was ok. Not great not bad.
Beautiful space. Soo relaxing
Nice people. Rough neighborhood. Parking across the street $15. Ride share is best.
This was a fun experience. We did the Onsen followed by set dinner menu. The spa was so relaxing especially because we were sore from workout/a lot of walking previous day.
The dinner was beautiful and delicious. It is on the smaller portion size but we had already planned a 2nd dinner later in the night! It was a stop in a very long bar/restaurant hop
Had a wonderful Sunday visit with my girlfriends. It’s kept clean and organised by the staff and it’s the perfect scale for an escape in the city
Had a wonderful, relaxing time at Onsen with my sister. We loved the sauna, steam, cold plunge and heated pool. Clean and welcoming. Stef at the front desk's service was wonderful. Thank you, Stef for making our experience lovely.
We had a reservation at OnSen but unfortunately the power was out that day. The staff, especially Adam, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of—they even helped us book at another bathhouse nearby so we wouldn’t miss out. This was our first outing together in several months since having our baby, and their understanding and kindness meant so much to us. Even though we didn’t get to experience OnSen this time, the thoughtful service alone has us excited to come back at the next opportunity. We highly recommend OnSen for their outstanding hospitality and customer care.
“We allow and encourage people to interact with their friends and their fellow bather. We ask that people keep their voices calm and to speak softly.”
This is true, and the noise level is unpredictable. Ive had relaxing experiences where people were polite and quiet, and other experiences where people were loud, having full volume conversations. There doesn’t seem to be any guidance or enforcement about noise levels from staff.
Would not recommend if you expect the opportunity to have quiet and meditative moments—your ability to do so will depend on other patrons, not the staff.
Incredible space, lovely staff, all around great experience.
Wonderful small Onsen tucked away in the TL. I really enjoyed the all male day. It was clean, had the essentials, and I enjoyed the vibe. Other than Kabuki, this has to be my favorite Onsen in SF.
If I was being picky maybe I’d recommend to have ambient and atmospheric music as opposed to what was playing, which had more of a driving beat and interrupts the feeling of flow and relaxation that some are seeking out in these spaces. I had to try and ignore it, because I’m not trying to dance along to a song at an Onsen, but just relax.

Peaceful oasis in the city. Just like an onsen you’d find in Japan. Soothing hot tub, steam room, and sauna. Helpful bath attendant and staff. Met all my expectations.
Cozy onsen in the back and mini-restaurant in the front. In the onsen, there are separate sauna and steam rooms, a heated pool, and a cold shower. They provided towels, shoes, and a robe. There were also showers with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion outside.
The tasting menu was flavorful and fresh.
And all the staff were extremely polite, helpful, and nice.
Who would’ve thought a carefully curated Japanese bathhouse would be tucked away in the heart of the Tenderloin!
Every corner of this onsen feels like it was purposefully chosen, from the black-and-white tile in the steam room to the MUJI-esque tin jugs of cool ice water. It’s a really beautiful and extremely clean spa. Whoever designed the space did so thoughtfully and without cutting any corners.
Admittedly, the biggest downside of this onsen is that it does feel a bit small. There is only one main room, with a hot tub in the center and a steam room and sauna on either ends. There are also only three showers and three lounge chairs, so sometimes there’s a bit of a waiting game. But at a spa, time should never feel rushed!
Highlights included the traditional robe they give you to change into as well as the unlimited refills of warm mint tea. Little details like this go a long way in sending the message that the spa is well-maintained and thoughtfully designed.
Hoping to come again and combine the experience with the restaurant.
For those coming on a co-ed day (like I did), make sure to bring a bathing suit. Robe, towels, and sandals are provided. Lotion, mouthwash, and a hair dryer are provided in the men’s locker room, but you’ll need to bring your own deodorant/hair products/toothbrush and toothpaste.
For the price, an amazing experience.
It was clean, cheap, and not too crowded,. especially on a Saturday around 5pm. Definitely recommend!
Such a great time, it reminded me of onsens in Japan. The decor is really nice, the place is the perfect size, and the owner Adam was super friendly, had a great chat with him while he served us at the bar. 10/10 would visit again.
