I returned to Oriental Pearl with my (Chinese) spouse for the first time since the pandemic, a hidden gem on Clay Street. Many SF restaurants have suffered, but this one is as good as I remember it (prices are higher than before, just as they are everywhere, but still reasonable). I'm not sure whether they've changed chefs or not, but everything we ordered was excellent. I especially liked the Pepper Beef and the Black Mushrooms with Greens. One thing: if wine is important to you (for me it isn't), bring your own; their wine list is not a feature. They also offer Dim Sum for lunch.
We have a celiac son so noted that they provided a GF menu. We should have turned around and walked back out as soon as we entered as it was almost empty and most other restaurants were busy with Chinese NY. This would have to be the worst Chinese meal I’ve ever experienced. Nothing was authentic and perhaps had been dumbed down for some reason. Needless to say we would never return as there must be nearby restaurants will be far superior to this and surely there are far better GF options to be had. Don’t waste your time and money here.
It's clean and good prices, also the food is amazing, the duck with pancakes its the best
Party of 4, ordered beef noodle soup, Pearl oriental fried rice, egg rolls, beef fried rice, sweet and sour fish. We were all so disappointed the food was horrible just plan flavorless. The shrimp and pork sausage in my fried rice was very small The only reason we selected this restaurant was because of a good review from Rachel Ray in 2017. The soup was tasteless. The sauce used on the sweet and sour fish just wasn't authentic. Over all it was a very disappointing experience that no one should have to suffer through. By the way we couldn't order a coke because the soda machine was broken. We couldn't order the lettuce wraps because there was no lettuce, we couldn't order prawns in garlic sauce because there were no prawns. Definitely not worth the time, or money.
Such a treasure! This was the best Asian food I have ever eaten. Seven of us sat down for a leisurely, conversation-filled dinner. Our server made sure we knew how many servings the designed-to-share dishes included. Her assistant offered suggestions about which sauces complemented which appetizers. Our wine was excellent and very reasonably priced. When the main dishes arrived, we were very happy with the tasty offerings. The several shrimp dishes were especially excellent.
Vegetarian options: The vegetarians at our table were pleased with the variety of choices available. They were delighted with their tasty dishes and shared little samples with the rest of the guests.
Good deal in the area for dim sun and pekin duck and chinese food. The best part is the service : 5 stars thanks to the hostess who speaks french too !
Come her everytime I am in San Francisco. Best Chinese food ever. The sweet and sour pork is like no other I had in my 50 years on earth. They do some type of deep frying where it is extremely crispy and juicy. The flavor is amazing. The other dishes are great as well. Service fantastic prices a good. Parking is easy because it is located by the restaurant.
Parking: Cheap parking garage under park by restaurant.
Authentic, the real deal. Large seating area and full menu. Many choices in San Francisco for Chinese cuisine, this is one of the best! Highly recommend giving them a try. FOLLOW ME for more thoughtful recommendations as I travel the world ?
Found this place when looking for gluten free dim sum. We went for a late lunch and struggled to get seated and served. They did have gluten free dumplings though. Wish the service would have been better.
Just ok. I thought it was quite overpriced and the service was virtually non existent. The place is very clean.I ordered the General Chicken, and it wasn't anything special, close to 20 dollars. White Rice is extra. The pineapple in the Chicken had zero flavor

Nice restaurant, good food, peking duck is a must try. Get here twice just within one week.
Delicious every time! I brought family and friends again. I was thanked all around, again. Luv the tofu options and spicy dishes! Our favorite restaurant in China Town for over 20 years.
First, when you use the address on the internet, there is a sign in a dirty window that informs you to go to another address a short distance away. One server was very pleasantly and efficiently managing the entire dining room. The food was average at best. I had a chicken dish. The flavors were excellent but the quality of the chicken was awful. I thought the prices high for what we had.
Gluten Free menu was great. We had a party of 11 and we had great service. Several people in our party had to have GF and we were happy to learn that they had several options for this. The portions were very big, so be aware of that as we had lots of leftovers despite being careful. The sauces were very good and the soups very delicious - not salty! The kids loved the pork dumplings more than the seafood/shrimp ones.Overall I recommend this place and especially if you need GF options!
This restaurant is a winner both in terms of aesthetic and quality. It is beautifully decorated and very spacious inside, the staff was also friendly and got us seated within 2 minutes. The food was also excellent. The vegetables dumpling and chicken noodles were my personal favorite but everything was tasty and reasonably priced considering the times
