Food was mid and service was nothing special and yet, they charge us tip without our consent. And the places are tight here.

Wow how is it possible?? I ordered lunch special ramen and takoyaki for around $17.50. Omg there is ONE papper thin of meat in the whole bowl. How can they serve only ONE piece of meat like that?? Please don’t visit this restaurant. The only reason we came here bc there was no line, but there was definitely a reason for that. Don’t waste your money!!!!

Fast service, affordable prices, decent ramen, tonkatsu, and salmon sushi, not the best one I have had but good and fast.

Our meal averaged about $20/person. My rice cooker at home routinely does a better job in terms of taste and texture.

Horrible customer service. I had to get up 3 times just to order. When I asked the waiter what size the roll was she started scolding me and asking if I've never been to a Japanese restaurant in my life, when I asked her about her attitude she just kept telling me how it seemed I had never been to a Japanese restaurant.
I can tell why they're so poorly rated. Personnel need urgent training!
Easiest zero dollars tip in my life 😁

The food was just okay. Portion is kind of small for the price. $30 combo comes with tiny bit of rice and a lot of salad to pad out the plate. It is very very strange that the waitress asked me. How would I like my beef teriyaki to be cooked? I was like what the hell. I'm not at a steak restaurant. It is Japanese. Make it well done. That should have been my wake up call to leave but I was naive.
The service as pointed out by many other posters here are very rude. They were very annoyed when I was asking for water after I waited for 10 minutes and still not getting them. They scolded me like it was my fault and was giving me the stink eye from a distance every time I looked their direction. The cherry on top is that they have the audacity to add 18% gratitude by force on every bill they have. This service does not deserve even 8% let alone 18%. I will not be coming back.

The staff was absolutely rude. The food was mid, the vibes were ruined by the staff who seemed to be bothered by your presence. There’s better Japanese spots that will happily except your money. On top of already spending my money there, they demanded a higher tip.

Tried the tonkotsu ramen, miso ramen, chicken yakitori, and a salmon roll.
Overall, the meal was disappointing.
The tonkotsu ramen was extremely salty. Salty enough that we considered asking for a remake.
The chicken yakitori was the best item; the sauce and seasoning were just right.
Not sure I’d come back, except maybe just for the yakitori.

I don’t why ppl so picky with this place. The food is good, service is fast, good price(one of the
cheapest in the mall). We come here all the time. Always have good experience.

Osakaya is surprisingly affordable compared to nearby restaurants. You can eat dinner for less than $20 per person. We were seated immediately on a Wednesday evening, and our food came out quickly. The waitresses were polite and checked in on our table frequently. I ordered the sukiyaki nabe, and it was delicious! A lot of food for the price. We will definitely be back next time we visit Japantown.

The food was average and overpriced. They automatically added a 18% tip without telling us clearly. When we asked if adding noodles was okay, they said yes but never mentioned an extra charge. Only when paying did we realize the bill was unclear, and the tip was already added by the server. Not a very transparent experience.

I came to this restaurant because a friend of mine recommended this place. Food we ordered was bland. When my sister asked for a to go box, the waitress threw the box and the bag on top of the sushi, and got box and bag dirty. That was a little bit rude for me. I've lived in SF for over 7 years, visited many restaurants, and this was the first restaurant that added themselves and 16.02 tip.
In the other restaurants I've been I get the choice to leave a tip. So be aware that they charge you, with 18% tip when you pay. I guess they could add their tip on their check, but in my opinion it was a little high for the customer service we received.

Good sushi and katsu at a reasonable price (particularly for the lunch special, seemed pricier for dinner). Sushi was very flavorful and fresh. Katsu was slightly overcooked. Wait staff a little rough around the edges.
