TLDR: empty at lunchtime so come during lunch and less wait, good food and great service
Came in around 11:30 for lunch and we were the only ones there compared to some nights I’ve seen it crazy busy. The server was pleasant and gave us some free bread with our two pastas. I love the paperadelle burro (needed a bit more salt) but my gf got a fish pasta and it wasn’t really for us.

You should bookmark this place if you plan on heading to the DeYoung Museum and don't want to eat in the museum cafeteria again. It's a reasonable walking distance and they serve solid Italian food.We had party of three and ordered the gnocchi, spaghetti with pork jowl, and lasagna. For dessert, we had dark chocolate and cappuccino gelato and a pineapple sorbet.They have great service, and the ambience is very comfortable. Their prices are quite reasonable for their quality. I've come here more than once, and I will continue coming here. This time I bought two friends, who were extremely happy with their choices.

Jon Luca was very courteous and really knew how to speak about the dishes with love. The servers were on top of their job and really cared about the customers. The main dishes were excellent, especially the braised oxtail and beef tongue dish with pasta?WOW! Two Thumbs up to Bella Trattoria??????

I have been living in the neighborhood for 3 years but only went to Osteria bella/Bella trattoria for the first time last night. I am Italian and I have been disappointed by Italian restaurants in SF so many times that I was avoiding them. However, my Neapolitan mom came to visit, and since she was home sick, I thought about giving a try to Osteria bella: what a genius idea! Everything was absolutely delicious and the all staff was so kind! My mom had the artichokes: very tasty! I had the “maccurun ca salsiccia” (macaroni with meat sausage): a delight! My toddler loved it too and ate half of my plate! My husband had the “gnocchi al ragu” and was absolutely happy about it. All the dishes were plenty/very generous with portions. The panna cotta and the tiramisu were the best I ever had! Cocktails, antipasti, and bread were so good too! I will definitely go back. My plan is to try everything on the menu! Gianluca was incredibly adorable from A to Z. He took great care of my mom and was speaking Neapolitan to her. She was so happy about the food and the atmosphere! Everybody was so friendly and making everything easy for my old mom and my baby! Graz’ assaï Osteria bella! Best restaurant in town ever!
