Such a cool institution! Love that they serve you house wine while you wait for your table. The staff is so nice, and the seafood is delicious and in large portions - come hungry!

If you’re under 60 and haven’t been going there for decades, stay away!We had the clam chowder and two different fish entrees. The chowder was watery and the few clam bits were old and rubbery. Both fish entrees were wet, overcooked, and flavorless. Combine the terrible quality of the meal with the half hour wait and the $100 price tag for two and Pacific Cafe is a waste of an evening. The restaurant is steeped in nostalgia that may resonate with its ancient patrons but comes across as a limping relic to first timers.

I hadn't been to Pacific Cafe in over 30 years but it's still the amazing seafood restaurant that I remember. They still offer bottomless glasses of wine while you are waiting to get in (go early to avoid the wait).) The wait staff has generally been there for decades and are professional, friendly, and efficient. The food was still superb. Don't expect trendy dishes. The meme caters to long time patrons. Prices are reasonable and commensurate with the cuisine.Thez atmosphere is relaxed with good noise levels so you could easily carry on a conversation. We did arrive early when they opened and spent a leisurely hour and a half visiting with our friend without feeling pressured at all to turn the table.I'll go back. Hopefully, it won't take another 30 years

Old School local establishment serving up the freshest seafood in the City! No reservation taken in advance, so get there early and enjoy a glass of wine on the house.

The food is amazing and always a wonderful meal. The service is good and the atmosphere is inviting. They always have a good crowd, but if you have to wait for a table, they kindly provide a complimentary glass of wine. I highly recommend this neighborhood gem.

This really is a friendly neighborhood restaurant. An old time establishment that is usually always crowded with long standing customers sharing the experience with friends and family. They always offer everyone a glass of wine while waiting for a table and if you know how the customers flow you can predict the time to go and get a table without much wait. We came on a Saturday night and waited less than 10 minutes for a table. Love the Shrimp Louie salad that came with my entree but thought the chowder was a little salty for my taste. We had the rainbow trout, petrale sole dore, snapper and petrale sole newburg. It’s a simple menu but with decent food. The amount of food you get could be improved a little for some of the fish dishes as it can arrive looking a little sparse. Also, the post-pandemic menu is slimmed down so they have less items offered. Overall the food is still good but I like coming here for the friendly, attentive and efficient service!

Sometimes there is a wait, but you don't have to worry because Frank has you covered with a nice big pour of red or white while you enjoy the crisp SF evening weather. The food is always consistently good. Fried oysters, grilled salmon, grilled scallops with the veg of the day, for instance the nonna approved broccolini, all delicious. They put a yummy giant hunk of sour dough on the table with gobs of butter! The feel of the restaurant is very family friendly. Staff is very welcoming and accommodating. Frank is a gem. Go get some Pacific Cafe!

An establishment local joint with a line always out the door. Their shtick of a free glass of wine while you wait for a table leaves customers satisfied, and even glad to wait upwards of 20 minutes for a table. By the time dinner is served, it's always a delightful experience. The shrimp louie is fantastic, the sourdough plentiful, the clam chowder is delightful, free of the fake creamed madness you'll be inundated with by the pier. Opt for the best crab cake of your life, or whatever they got fresh that day. This is truly a restaurant so wonderful, that I'd close my eyes, point, and be thrilled by my choice. I hope you all manage to make your way at a local joint, a place that I hope dearly, outlives the rest of them.

A fantastic, cozy, homey seafood restaurant that serves home-style cooked meals. We happened to stumble on this place entirely by chance and were not disappointed. It was very busy on the night we were there, but the wait wasn't bad at all, and the service was outstanding. From the complementary glass of wine while we waited, to the personable service from our waiter (who I think was actually the chef?), to the smiling staff, our experience here was fantastic. The food was nothing short of delicious, and felt like good, authentic home cooking. If we ever come back to San Francisco, we'll definitely pay this place a visit again!

Always loved this place but... last night the food was off. More expensive for one, the prawns on the combo plate looked like shrimp. Place was not busy. Makes me wonder
