Absolutely delicious! One of my favorite Burmese restaurants in SF. Definitely worth a visit (and many more)

this used to be one of my favorite places to get thai food in the city! their pineapple fried rice was heaven, and pad thai was incredible.however, not sure if there's a new chef or rotating cooks or if the recipes have been reworked but lately it has been hit or miss for me. the recipes are inconsistent and sometimes not as tasty as they used to be. for example, the pineapple fried rice used to have more of a distinct golden color and in the past few months or so, sometimes it has had the color, sometimes it hasn't. it also lacks the sweetness it used to have (which, mind you, was never overly sweet just the right amount). last night, my eggplant tofu was undercooked, with the eggplant though to chew rather than soft and slightly mushy as expected. hopefully they can get back on track soon...

(I did this because I think I deserves more than 5 stars)It was a great place that offers south East Asian food I like it first because it is local not a chain which helps with the mood plus it serves high quality food & if you are worried about the price they serve GIANT portions

l've been coming to Pagan for years and it's time for a review. The food there is delicious and tastes authentic from what I can tell. Also the prices are totally reasonable for the quality food they serve. Plus, the service is great. The young guy server was attentive and made sure everything was just right. The vibe is right with nice Burmese decor. It's one of those places where you feel like you're supporting a local family business, and that just makes the whole experience better. Everyone there works so hard, and it definitely shows. So if you're looking for delicious Burmese food, great service, and a place where you'll actually want to leave a tip because you know it's going straight to the hardworking folks behind the scenes, I recommend Pagan.

Very good and reasonably priced Burmese food. If you are a tofu fan get the stuffed appetizer, it was great.

Came in close to closing and service was still very sweet and courteous. The food was amazing. I'd say on par with Burma Superstar (which I also love) but this is closer to me and had no wait! I'd highly recommend to anyone in the area looking for good Burmese food. Next time I will also try the Thai menu. :) Thank you!! I will be back

Neither the very readers of this review nor do I have a clue what I am just about to do simply by starting to talk about this business as it naturally comes, backed with an intention to put an emphasis on the taste of the food that they cook, which I BELIEVE, is quite AMAZING!!And on top of that, they, in my days of much harsher survival efforts compared to this day, provided me with various and deliciously nutritious, flavorful dishes on those cold & dark winter days back in time, when I used to live in the neighborhood (33rd Ave & Balboa to be more precise) in such a terrible living situation which unfortunately did not allow me access to a kitchen so to be able to cook my own food; which I always prioritize. So I had to systematically find good places with meaningful prices to buy me GOOD food; with the reassurance of it being cooked for you & delivered to you by good people. However, being an immigrant running up that hill of LIFE as an independent survivor, a lot of times meant and required compromises and sacrifices, and although it might've gotten a little easier over time, the JOURNEY itself is not over! I am glad that I, growing up and becoming an adult version of me, did not choose to apply compromises or sacrifices on my character, thus my values, to do business for selfish gains or make that kind of a business sustainable for me. After all, it's all a matter of energy; which we mostly obtain with the nutrition we allow in our human bodies. So in all that regard, the food from these guys is brought to you with clean & mindful energy. It does not feel selfish as opposed to how a few competitors made me FEEL. Their simple yet impressive presentations on the other hand, do serve the hunger in your eyes prior to your delicious food making its way to your tummy to take care of your physical hunger!Back in time on one of those days in my R2D2-BLUE hazeWhen I needed magic to cook; oh that was a terrible phaseWhen this life truly felt like nothin' but a complex mazePagan's Thai Spicy Noodles helped me to better cherish my daysI'm not sleeping, I'm only ALIVE in this human experienceIn a world where people become more & more mindlessIt needn't have to cause pain for 1 to maintain kindnessYet people only repeat their 9 to 5's in absolute ignoranceToday I walked by the Pagan Restaurant I wanted to say HiYet by 3PM you guys were closed, so I'm Yelping to say hiI'm a 41 year-old MAN yet haven't found the reason "Why......animals are cut & eaten, cause human-beings in this ecosystem do rank more high?"They know how to transform a shrimp, applying a pan fryInside they have an intimate ambiance, worthy of a tryP.S.: I must say that never have I ever dined-in there or had orders which included pettable animals' flesh! I've always placed my pescatarian orders on the phone and grabbed them TO-GO. And that worked quite well for me every single time! *Ye shall not be discouraged by the small size of their businessGiven the food's tastefulness and the staff's kindness*Keep up the good work you guys!

Great lunch stop for my museum visit. Food was great and price was definitely good for the area. Only complaint was AC was off, as I came on a quite warm day.

Home style Burmese in a low key space. They have the best tea leaf salad in SF and source unique Burmese vegetables for some of their dishes ?

I'd heartily give this place 6 stars if I could. They are more known for their Burmese cuisine and this is easily the best Burmese food I've had outside of Asia.Food is gorgeous, tasty, fresh and vegetarian friendly (vegetarian curry is a must, I also adore their beef kabat). It's a simple place so don't expect much in terms of decor. But we left with happy tummies and loved the attentive service. Will definitely be back

My (very picky) 8 YO son and I came here for dinner a few weeks back. We had a server named Phillip, who gave us exceptionally kind and patient service. We modified most of what we ordered to accommodate my kid, and he graciously took good care of us. The food was delicious, even simplified for a little kid. The chicken broth was rich and full flavorful, The fried tofu was light and crispy, and The dish I ordered for myself (noodles W chicken) had a nuanced deliciousness that reminded my why this restaurant has been a local favorite for so long. I'm so happy to have rediscovered it!
