The food was terrible and did not match the quality of the food before the reopening. The service was also bad as no one came to check on us once the food was delivered. Please go back to the old quality and menu
Was disappointed. Had several happy hours dishes, and nothing stood out as great. Service was very slow until we wanted to check out and servers were quick to clear everything. This was a Wednesday, it was crowded but felt like if was more important to turn the table.
Recently reopened (2026) after a long closue the Palmer is a textbook old San Francisco pub/tavern. The vibe is authentic and lively, with a great mix of all generations that blends seamlessly. The food is good pub fare, well done but not distinctive (SFO is a tough food crowd). Cool bar with very attentive service. The Filmore has plenty of dining options, and the Palmer should definitely be on the must-do list.
First time back since remodel, popular neighborhood spot but food was underwhelming, bland and service indifferent. Wedge salad to be shared came on one plate with a small plate to share. Asked for creamed spinach to come with steak but came with salad (server did offer to take it back and send out with steaks). $45 steak bland with plenty of gristle, needed the sauce for flavor. Creamed spinach bland. Ordered the Autumn in New York cocktail, first one nice, second one not. Restaurant loud on a Friday night, hard to have conversation. Overall disappointed.
First of all I'd chosen the restaurant for the posted menu-which turned out not to be the menu available. Mostly it was that the food was terrible. Our friend ordered the cob salad that was so bad he sent it back to the kitchen- wilted lettuce, no dressing, covered with cheap croutons instead of actual salad food... I had the fish and chips as did my friend- fish was sort of soggy- like over cooked or batter was undercooked- couldn't quite tell. I ordered a side of creamed spinach which was clumps of-spinach in a bowl with cream poured on top ... one of us had the short ribs that were just fine but the sourdough bread we had to order separately was stale and looked like it came out of it's grocery plastic bag. Need I say more?
Loved that it has reopened and has a very vibrant vibe /atmosphere!! Food was excellent, we all had three different entries. Shared a couple of apps. Service was the issue. We started with one person, whom was not very personable or attentive. They went on a break. We then were traded off through out the dining experience by two/ three other servers. Much more pleasant and personable, but our service was a bit disjointed and we were never sure whom to address. In general the serving staff seemed to be tripping over each other. This could be due to new staffing and they haven't found their rhythm. Will give it another try in the near future.
My favorite spot! Great drinks, food, and the vibes are perfection.
Apparently they don't apply their Happy hour until next year, even though its advertised online. Aside from that, it took servers awhile to get to us after forgetting said drinks

We shared the hummus appetizer and the braised short ribs. They were both excellent in presentation and flavor. The service by our waiter Claire, could not have been better. She was attentative and gave us recommendations on interesting dishes. The wine list was interesting with a good Argentinian Malbec, Italian Barbera and a Sonoma Pinot Noir from Kazi Cellars.
Great ambiance. Service was excellent. Food could be a little more creative or varied but my French Dip sandwich was excellent and I really enjoyed our cocktails. Good to see another welcoming place on Filmore

Palmers has a great vibe and tons of energy. We were sat promptly to our reservation. The restaurant was busy. It took quite a while for our server to come. He in fact attended to guests who arrive notably after us. Drink orders arrived quickly. Both were delicious. However, my manhattan had clearly been shaken and not stirred. It was cloudy AF. The food was great arrived quickly. The food was brought by “runners” not our server. The server never came back to see if we needed another drink or how our meals were. There was an issue with one of the meals. I had to get that addressed by another employee. The “runners” were great and pleasant. The waiter was nice enough just totally inattentive. I will definitely go again. I'll hope for a better server.
Great ambiance. Red leather booths, twinkly lights, great music. The staff was excellent, helping us find a seat at the bar for drinks beforehand and also getting us to our table on time. Loved it so much!
Great bartenders! We only had drinks

Food was disappointing. Perfect place to get an app and drink but I wouldn't recommend dinner
Was so excited to try this restaurant but the food was flavorless, the service horrible and it was incredibly loud (not Palmers fault). Once seated, it took 15 minutes for our server to take our order. When our server arrived, he didn't greet us, just stood there awkwardly... overall really disappointed. I had high hopes for this place.
