I wanted to give this place a shot after reading some of the reviews but it was a really bad experience that costs me over $26 for a waste of a meal. The person taking my order was so comically disinterested but still took my order, then proceeded to fully ignore it. I asked for well done, it’s pink throughout the entire burger. There’s more.. but does it matter? Guess this won’t be my neighborhood burger spot after all.

This was our first time there, the staff was really really nice, they got our order correct. They have what I called a"problem menu" the problem is everything on the menu is so good and I want everything, lol. The food was delicious, from the burger to the salad to their delicious fries to the awesome philly cheesesteak. They make their own ranch dressing and it's a jalapeno ranch dressing that is to die for. We will definitely be coming back soon.

Been to Papa Mak's a few times before writing a review. Simply put for a fresh burger place, this is the spot. The first few burgers when asked for medium rare actually came out more on the rare side. So my last time there I asked for the mushroom burger cooked medium, which was actually more medium leaning slightly to the rare. So in my estimation asking for a medium will come out just fine. For taste, the meat is simply tasty. The mushrooms, cheese and the toppings are all good. The fries are very good and have a taste all to their own. I probably could have the bun toasted more but I'm just being picky here. I've eaten inside and taken food to go. Either way it was fine. The restaurant is simple, comfortable and basic. There is outdoor seating but the days I've been there, it was a bit too cold in the Sunset fog. I'll need to coordinate a nice day to enjoy the outside area. Overall, it is a very nice local neighborhood place. The owner and workers are friendly, efficient and not trying to upsell you. You get what you ask for and that's pretty much it. I've used the app to order and the app does not charge a use fee otherwise I'd use cash when ordering in person. For a small business, that can cut into the profits. Regardless, Papa Mac's is a great place for a great burger at a great price. Enjoy!

The four alarm burger is absolutely juicy and jam packed with flavor. On top of that, the order comes with the side of a good handful of crispy fries (or house salad if you prefer). Plenty of seating: indoors and outdoors. Their menu has a variety of options that you don't typically find at any other burger joint. I highly recommend coming in with a good appetite and even more good friends.

Great spot to come and enjoy a burger near Ocean beach. If you check into Yelp, then you can get a free canned soda or fountain drink. I enjoyed the Mushroom burger with truffle fries. I was really interested in the curried beer cheese so ordered that as well. The curry flavor was amazing in the beer cheese. I would definitely order that next time with an order of fries. Seems like a great place to come after burning up a ton of calories surfing. I would totally come back to try the lamb burger next time.

The burgers desperately need salt. Their fries are pretty good and it's nice that u get a free side of them with your burger and the portions are good for the price. Service is average, nothing good or bad.

I went here to try it the first time. I was eating it in my car at night and I was already almost half way when I turned on the light and saw this, I was eating an almost raw burger! So nasty, I got sick after eating it!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's so totally true . . . I've recently become a fan of Papa Mak's. Mind you, the first couple times, I wasn't really all that wow-ed by the place -- although that may have stemmed from a folly of misorders -- but this last visit changed all that. Mushroom burger for me : nicely seasoned patty, cooked medium, mushrooms, swiss, extra mayo. hit the spot. Kid's cheeseburger for my not so little one : meat, cheese, bread. no fuss. no muss. my girl devoured it. It's local. Folks are friendly. Nice sit down. Chill. I like.

Order few times from them and I tried the curly fries with the wannabee beer cheese sauce. Sorry but this was possibly one of the most disgusting sauce I have had in a long while. Burgers are okay but after trying a few times this was my last time. Best of
