Very, very noisy, needs acoustical treatment. It interferes with the enjoyment of their food.

The food was delicious and came quick. The service was horrible and it was not family friendly at all. I went with 3 adults and 3 kids. After ordering, they brought our drinks and the server angrily and impatiently told us the kids had to be seated against the wall. We were a bit suprised but moved them. While waiting for the food the kids were practicing with their chopsticks and the server TOOK them out of my son's hands and gave him a fork. Our food had not even arrived yet. Regretfully, I would never go back even though the food was good. My family did NOT feel welcome.

Singaporean American here. Honestly, I grew tired to american imitations of Hainan chicken which is usually throwing some chicken broth and chicken together and calling it hainan. This place had okay? Hainan but quite distilled flavor and fragrance, also expensive so I didnt get the rice part, weird how they split it. tho looking at others peoples complain here, i agree with most of them. recommend? not really, its questionable if u get it good or not. also hainan takes super long to prepare so they prob had it sitting for quite a while before i got to it. also expect some coldness because hainan chicken are usually dipped into ice before cutting for tender but not like refrigerator cold

Penang Garden's pineapple fried rice, served on half a pineapple rind skin photos on the Internet looked attractive. Sadly, I can only order it without the rind skin. The waiter explained, a large pineapple has five servings of pineapple and only two of those will be served on half of a pineapple rind skin. Ridiculous if you ask me. I ended up getting the seafood pan fried Hong Kong style noodles $20 and a satay beef $16. The noodles came out surprisingly quick. That is because the vegetables were under cooked, especially the broccoli. The scallops, shrimps and squid needed more seasoning. As for the crispy noodles, most were already soaked making them not crispy. There weren't any burnt ends on the noodles and missing good wok hei (distinctive smoky, charred, and flavorful taste.) The satay beef skewers were OK. The clientele for Penang Garden was mostly Toisan speakers and some Cantonese speakers. Surprisingly, it was 70% full and the waiters seem to know everyone there. Service was excellent. It made up for the lackluster food and sans pineapple fried rice order. I would have been pissed if I ordered it and it came out without the pineapple rind skin. As with life, we don't always get what we want.
Very delicious, locals favorite. Must try their barbecue pork chops and roast pigeon!!! A 10!

Everything we ordered was delicious! The absolute best satay I've ever had, particularly the beef. Also had their house special fried rice and the coconut jumbo prawns which were just amazing. We ordered 5 dishes for three people and were pleasantly surprised how reasonable our check totaled out to be! Literally my only complaint is that they're so busy it's hard to get a waiter's attention, but that's a small price to pay for excellent food!

We got the Roti Canai, satay combo which had huge juicy pieces of meat, coconut jumbo prawns (jumbo is an understatement), chow keuh teow, and the house special fried rice. Everything was full of great flavor and so delicious. For 5 items our total came to $90. Which I think is quite reasonable for three people.
As a Malaysian, this place is underwhelming. Food is not authentic. Pretty much everything that was served on the Nasi lemak platter was taken out of the fridge before serving.

was served luke warm satays and the chicken and beef meat had dry chewy texture - definitely not fresh and probably reheated. Hainan chicken was served with cold brocolli and without the traditional soup (which was as stated as included on the menu).

This place is a total fail for real Malaysian food. Nasi lemak was sad, char kway teow was oily and wrong, and the Hainanese chicken was fridge-cold. Half the menu is random Chinese dishes. Overpriced, and they close randomly. Don't waste your time or money.

DO NOT GO here if youâre looking for authentic Malaysian cuisine. I ordered nasi lemak, char kway teow, and Hainanese chicken, and it was a complete disaster. The nasi lemak? Just plain rice with some sad vegetables â no anchovies, no sambal, nothing that makes it nasi lemak! The char kway teow was made with the wrong noodles, and it was hard and dripping with oil. And the Hainanese chicken? Cold. As in, straight-out-of-the-fridge cold. Unbelievably disappointing. When I confronted the owner, he just laughed it off, saying his restaurant wouldnât be busy if people didnât like the food. Well, I told him he might as well call it âChina Gardenâ since half the menu is Chinese food thatâs not even close to being Malaysian. Total waste of time and money.
