3 stars because staff is friendly and the atmosphere is nice but the coffee is sometimes horrible. The only Philz location in the city where the coffee is watery tasting like hot flavored water.If you order ahead your coffee may be cold upon arrival time or it may not be ready if ordered 30 mins ahead.I order the same thing everyday which is a hot drink but sometimes they confuse it and make it an ice drink…my drink order is literally the same every day but is the taste and experience is unpredictable, you never know what you’re getting.

Horrible!! One of the rudest crew’s possible. Hand me my coffee, utterly cold. Ask to heat and with a f you attitude told they can’t. Said I’d appreciate a new hot coffee told I’d have to wait in queue, after already waiting 25 minutes. At this point they literally turned their back on me. Suggest everyone turn their backs on Philz.

I walked in at 4:18 and they turned me away saying they already took their last order. You should change your store hours if you’re not going to serve until 4:30.
The coffee I got was kinda cold the young lady Courtney Brown, the dirty trash cans through the dining area. I was in the chair when she Brong the second one in, and she tries to squeeze the dirty trashcan in between me and a chair and couldn’t so then she said excuse me. Then she has the water container with a dirty trashcan. They have a good customer service over all

I am a philz fan for life and am never disappointed regardless of which location I go to. However, special mention to Philz Portrero!! I went around closing time and was given a free bag of pastries ???

THE Coffee place. Occasionally, I'll have coffee. Mostly, however, I get the hot chocolate with cream. Oh My God! Angels sweep their wings over every cup.Since I don't drink coffee anymore, Philz hot chocolate leads the parade for me. Nectar of the gods! Thanks Phil.

Amazing coffee and super friendly staff. Beans are ground to order and steeped seconds before you get your cup. Barista had us try the coffee to make sure it was perfect. It was!

I've been to Philz several times, in NorCal/SoCal. I've always had great experiences, or even average but fine experiences, until this morning. Honestly I don't even care for anyone to go the "extra mile", but for the cashier AND barista to be as rude as they were at this specific location, is inexcusable (I was super nice, greeted them, ordered simple stuff, didn't even modify any of the 2 coffees). You don't have to reciprocate my politeness, but what is the need for being rude or arrogant? I greeted the cashier, received silence, proceeded to order, then asked if they had pastries... incapable of uttering a word, she rudely pointed at pastries. I also asked if the cold brew was strong and the cashier said "it's a cold brew" (whatever that means???) maybe she didn't understand the question. Flat out useless. My order was ready and they couldn't even notify me, the only customer present in the store. They just let it sit there hidden in the corner of the counter. LOL. I get that it's early, I really do. I work 16 hour shifts, so if I can be polite, so can you. Disgusting behavior, and the coffee was also disappointing. I wouldn't go back here if the coffee was free :) believe the bad reviews. They are right on
