The Pork Store Café is a half block away from my pal Eyeball Joe's place so when I visit him we always get our food delivered, it comes hot and fast right from the kitchen. The last time we ate in the restaurant the order was mixed up with another table and he got someone else's order, so he popped his glass eyeball out and pressed it against the servers shoulder and said "I've got my eye on you...so you better watch it!" Ever since them he's got his food delivered. We had an Amazing porkchop dinner! ☆☆☆☆☆
A local institution which has been established on the street, or rather on 1451 Haight Street, for more than 50 years, recommended by an American passer-by who spontaneously recommended it to us upon seeing our faces of tourists potentially looking for a place to relax. sustain yourself in the neighborhood!
Well "Thanks again Sir", because indeed, The Pork Store Cafe is THE local tip, a former butcher's shop converted into a small restaurant, often crowded, with a clientele obviously of regulars seated at the counter or in the dining room , all in a pastel, nice and original decoration where pigs take pride of place on the walls or on the menu.
The choice is wide, the service polite and professional, the prices significantly cheaper than those of restaurants in the Union Square or Fisherman's Wharf areas and the dishes offered, typically Californian, are very good and served in generous portions. The only question for us: "The Apple sauce" which accompanied the "Pork Shop Lunch" was in fact applesauce... Strange for a French stomach to mix the two (although we serve apple boudin in France). on reflection).
In short, a nice, friendly address not to be missed if you're passing through the neighborhood!

I appreciate the vegan options, but it's pretty oblivious to offer vegan breakfast and neither margarine or olive oil for one's toast. I hope they remedy this. (I would have just emailed the owners but couldn't see any way to do so.)
Hi Mike. Keeping it real: I did ask for olive oil and was told you didn't have any. If there were a way to contact you via email, I would have been happy to, and would still be happy to, communicate that way instead of here.

Super greasy (omelets are literally cooked on oil flakes). Flavorless pancakes - even the maple syrup has no flavor.

Our first time visiting this tiny, quirky diner & we were pretty stoked on everything. Our timing was perfect because we didn’t have to wait. Our waitress was fantastic, as was the food. My husband had the scrambled eggs Benny with asparagus & avocado and even though he’s a weirdo who doesn’t like avocado he still loved this dish! I had the poached eggs over avocado on an English muffin (minus the tomato & salsa, thank you) & it was truly perfect. We will definitely eat here again the next time we’re in SF.
