Absolutely love the matcha here. it’s easily some of the best I’ve had! Huge shoutout to the two guys who work the weekday shifts; their service is always excellent. However, I’m giving 3 stars due to inconsistent hours. The shop is often closed on weekends or random weekdays without notice. Additionally, if the main guys aren't there at opening, the matcha usually isn't ready takes about 10 mins or so. I’d love to give this 5 stars if the reliability improved

I arrived at 3:30 and the person behind the counter told me she couldn’t serve me. I asked what time they closed and she said “4:00 but they’re not going to pay me overtime.” The cafe is totally empty and she didn’t even know what I wanted to order. This was the Progeny at the Van Ness and Mission location, not sure if my review is linked to the correct location.

Progeny Coffee is an excellent café with high-quality, expertly brewed coffee and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The flavors are rich and well-balanced, and the care put into each cup really shows. Do NOT order online!!! Worst online experience ever. The coffee is good, so I ordered some online but never received the beans. Contacted the company via email twice, no response. Eventually I had to call my credit card company to invalidate this transaction. Total waste of time.

The coffee here is amazing and it’s a great place to work. They source directly from Columbian farmers and there’s an option to send tips directly to farmers. A latte is $6.50, and they have some interesting syrups you can add on (banana, maple, blueberry, etc.).
