Great coffee, fresh delicious food and wonderful service. My go to stop before work, each staff member has been very helpful with selection of items for breakfast or lunch and building points towards rewards as well as helping me redeem awards through the app, that seem to add up quickly ! Thanks, Shawn

Been ordering their boxed food and have been loving it. It's hard for me to cook during the week for lunch and even dinner as work can get really busy so these pre packaged food boxes have been game changer. They have so many options, all delicious.

Very clean and welcoming place. They serve big portions and for reasonable prices. I loved the food very much and the staff members were super amiable and informative. Highly recommended.

I like that the ingredients are listed. Presumably, they aren’t using “natural flavors” and other additives. Food is healthy. Delicious.Sure it’s expensive but so is everything else in SF.The breakfast croissant (egg and cheese) is great, and cheap at less than $4.

Good for a quick lunch, but somewhat pricey.Proper food specializes on healthy food: salads, sandwiches, juices, etc. The food is really good, quality is high and it is very fresh. Portions are quite generous. Selection is good too. Staff is nice and quick efficient, so you can be in and out quickly. Only downside is price.

I was in a rush and had one of my colleagues "surprise" me. Let me tell you, The Italian did not disappoint. It was one of the best sandwiches I've had in my life. Good Food. Great Value.

The breakfast croissant with a soft egg is truly great.

Sometimes you're in a rush and need good food fast. If you are, look no further. This is not an airport Wolfgang Puck where the food is questionable, everything is made fresh from good ingredients. Because of this, they do charge more than you'd expect for a pre-made, refrigerated meal. One major downside is that there is no way to sub one ingredient for another or to remove an ingredient from an item altogether (e.g. are you craving a breakfast burrito but you're not a fan of sour cream?.....too bad.) Also, everything you order is cold - mind you they'll gladly heat your burrito or sandwich in a small oven, but you generally end up with a partially reheated meal. The concept works well for salads. Service here is always friendly and most employees seem genuinely happy (which is a welcome relief in FiDi.) My favorite item thus fare is the Couscous & Spinach Salad with Honey-Coriander Chicken - I'm not a salad person, but I genuinely crave this sometimes and it's actually filling. Overall, I can't think of a restaurant that executes on the pre-made concept any better than Proper Food. Is it pricey? Yes. But you get what you pay for - a solid portion of well made food with wholesome ingredients from happy employees, not a terrible trade-off. If prices were 10-20% cheaper, I would swing by more often. Since they're not, this spot serves its purpose of serving good (cold) food fast.

Was super excited to try this place their pictures look like such gormet food. It could've been the vegan sandwich that I ordered, maybe the salads are better but it was honestly no different than Starbucks or AmazonGo sandwiches just much more pricey. Juices are refreshing and have different flavors than I've seen before so that's nice.

The food is excellent, fresh and flavorful. Went to an event catered by the proper food company and everything served was amazing. The desserts were also awesome and priced well. The only exception was the gluten free brownies, we found them a little dry and not much flavor. The only issue we had was that the ingredients are not listed on the desserts. This is a problem since my boyfriend is prediabetic so he needs to know the sugar content. Show less Date of visit: October 2019

A good place for some healthier options during the lunch rush, and bonus it was near the office. If you go after 1:00 pm though, the choices are pretty limited. Lunch entrees range from $9 - $15, but my go-to was always the Sweet Potato enchiladas ($9.95 not including tax and tip). I tried their Korean BBQ hot plate to see if it stood up as a Korean dish, but it was pretty bland. The Angus short ribs were tasty enough, but napa cabbage didn't go well with the dish. For $13.75 (not including tax and tip) my taste buds were hoping for more, and the small portion of short rib they gave didn't inspire me to try again. I've also had their Salmon Teriyaki hot plate ($13.75 not including tax and tip) which was delicious. I loved how much the plate comes with (rice, broccoli, and a good portion of salmon) but also feeling like it wasn't that heavy of a lunch. They will heat the entrees up, however be warned they heat up the entire plate which includes any plastic containers with sauces or sour cream (Sweet Potato enchiladas). You can always go to the utensils bar to open the entree, remove those items, and then go back to the cashier and ask for it to be heated. If you're in a rush and don't have time to wait at one of the food trucks, or to see what's around, Proper will certainly be a faster (and maybe cheaper/healthier) solution. Bonus: their tip jars are pretty amusing.

This take out has really good and healthy sandwiches for take out. Sandwiches are made fresh with quality bread and ingredients. It gets crowded and may have a line out the door at lunchtime but it's worth the wait. Next to the shop are stairs leading up to a garden with picnic tables. Will go there again.
