very yummy and people were nice but I feel like laptops should be limited? every time I stop by the place is full of people working there and sadly there's never any space to enjoy your drink

On a bright and sunny Saturday, my partner and I were wandering around SF when we thought about getting some matcha. We had heard a lot about this place so we stopped by and it was a whole mission. Around noon, the line was really long and with minimal shade there, we were stuck out in the sun. However, when we finally made it inside we were able to put our orders in and just hang out until our drinks were ready. We ordered a regular matcha latte as well as the yuzu cream matcha latte. Both drinks were so good this time. Super creamy but also rich matcha flavor. The yuzu was well balanced and did not overpower the matcha either which is a big plus. I would not want to wait in that line again, but the drinks were definitely worthwhile.

Great addition to the neighborhood. The owner is excellent and the team is great. Coffee is on point (I just get the house drip coffee pretty much daily - very happy to give my business here instead of to Starbucks) and the aesthetic/vibe is extremely pleasant. For weekday mornings they are not busy, but it is wild to see the long lines in the afternoons on weekends. Matcha is def having its moment.

Such a great coffee. I used to come here all the time for my latte. Unfortunately, they stopped offering half and half, which is the only milk I drink. That change really disappointed me and made me stop coming altogether.

I always get a hot matcha latte when I try places that have a variety matcha drinks.

The plus: they have all the non-lactose options including a lactose free dairy milk. I’ve only been to one other place in SF that uses a lactose free milk so huge kudos to that. They also asked whether I wanted sweetened or unsweetened which I appreciate because I often forget to ask for unsweetened.

The minus: they pre-mix their matcha because they think it brings out a better flavor. Might be fine for a cold drink, but doing that with a hot drink makes it gritty since there isn’t froth or air helping to suspend the matcha.

The other drinks are fine and fun. The caramel coffee drink came with 3.5 shots of espresso and was honestly tasty even if it was a lot of caffeine.

Wait time was 30-45 minutes.

A warm white modern cafe aesthetic.

Honestly, the wait is the biggest deterrence. The drink isn’t good enough to warrant the wait, but if there’s a short line (ie, the line doesn’t go out the door), I’d go again to try the coffee.

I really enjoyed this new coffee shop. Although it gets very crowded — and I personally don’t love waiting in line — I ended up waiting about 30 minutes just to get in.

That said, the drinks were genuinely worth it. Everything I tried was excellent.

I’m a huge matcha enthusiast, and I highly recommend the Velvet Matcha Cloud. The yuzu drink was also very good — light, refreshing, and beautifully fragrant.

Pistachio cake is good but the matcha was nothing to brag about. Solid 5.8

Good cape cake. Flat white is so so. Way overpriced but I guess its a hyped up so people line up.

Solid coffee selection for pour overs and their cloud coffees are a must try.

Another new Bay Area matcha cafe popularized on social media! It’s really cute inside but I was surprised that a cafe specializing in matcha would pre-make their matcha lattes rather than whisk each to order. Maybe this is due to their new opening (40min-1hr wait) so they don’t have time? but I was disappointed by that.

Overall, matcha latte is solid, hojicha latte was good too, and they have many espresso beans. The yuzu matcha cloud whip cream didnt add much to the latte itself. Overall, not spectacular compared to already saturated matcha cafe market in SF.

The only thing, I would like for them to use glass cups instead of plastic. Pfas pfas!
