Mains were universally loved as were the desserts. Highlights include crispy swordfish and pasta with mushroom & cream, duck and lamb. Pear Napoleon for dessert was fugghetaboutit!

In December, we visited Routier for the first time. Although our circumstances were unusual (we bought out the restaurant for a special event), the experience was extraordinary.

We chose a family style menu so that everyone could sample more than one dish.

The food was seasonal, creative, French-inspired, and delicious. The main dishes were swordfish (with Nardello peppers and matsutake butter) and duck confit (with pumpkin purée and persimmon) accompanied by corn risotto and broccolini.

Perhaps at least as important as the outstanding food was the service. From the chef and owner JP Carmona through the entire staff, everyone was highly professional, but friendly and approachable.

The restaurant itself had a beautiful décor, in the style of a French bistro.

Everyone in our group found the experience to be one we will long cherish. In short, we would highly recommend Routier without qualification!

Great service and nice vibe. Chicken liver mousse, pork trotter, and tomato salad are all good starter choices. Sword fish has one side breaded prepared which makes it really yummy in flavor and texture.
Out standing service here as well.

Saturday evening w no reservations, my friend and I were accommodated with seating at the bar, which was fine.
The restaurant is beautiful. The service is good. Given Michelin listing and the accolades on the dining experiences in reviews I would have expected better FOOD. We started with the Fennel salad w curry vinaigrette, dates and feta cheese, exceptional. The Swordfish was off and overcooked. The Pressed Lamb shoulder was almost uneatable, stringy meat and over salted. Disappointing to say the least given these entree's were $40 per plate. The dessert we shared a Pear Napoleon was pure sugar and almost flavorless. Given the expense we were dismayed to say the least. Every restaurant can have an off night, no question, but Routier - Do Better.

A very lively French restaurant with a nice clean and short menu of great options like duck and risotto.

Speaking of risotto, it was a corn and mushroom risotto that was to die for. Very filling! Everyone at the table tried it and loved it. Sweet and savory and unique.

They have a high corkage fee ($45) but otherwise everything else was very reasonable and lovely!

Lovely restaurant, beautiful food. The service felt rushed and very average.

I didn't appreciate the rushing of the courses or the hovering. The plates were cleared way too quick. But I guess that's a very American/Mexican way to do things here in SF.

Very good food although quite pricey for the portion size. Was worth it for a special occasion but otherwise a bit beyond what I would want to spend. Service was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant was a bit warm and humid, especially on the second floor (possibly because it was raining).

I have been eyeing this place for awhile and am so glad I finally came in. My partner and I came here last night and we're so impressed with the delicious food. The vegetarian options (hen of the woods and corn risotto) were the stars of the show for us, but I also tried the lamb and it was divine. All the staff isl very attentive. This place brings a packed house (even later in the evening) and I can see why. Will definitely be back.

This really was very good. Wished we had more people with us because it’s best for eating family style. The corn risotto highlighted the corn more than the rice and was gooey with cheddar cheese. I also liked my beet close NA cocktail and the artichoke pepper pave, which is sliced potatoes smushed together in a square shape - tastes like a tater tot. Make a reservation!

Classic SF spot. The space is lofty with wonderful wood built-ins and beautiful bar. Atmosphere is 10/10. Food is artful but understated, it feels special and well thought out. There are real creative chefs in that kitchen!

We were a walk-in for three on a busy Friday night but were seated within 15 minutes. Hostess is very cheerful and has great energy, makes the spot feel friendly and inviting.

I don’t think you could ever go wrong here.

Wonderful restaurant, their Sushi was absolutely incredible, hands down one of the best dishes I've ever had. The Lamb was ok, not the best but good. Service was great, the people were very careful with my celiac and I had no reaction from eating there.
