Every time I get food here, it's delicious. Just had a veggie udon that was amazing, chock full of veggies. The broth is pork based, though. I've also had their lunch specials with their signature salmon.

I am always kind of leery with uncooked fish, so caveat: I've only ordered the cooked meals.

I honestly don't know why they aren't more busy.

Only thing is they charge more if you're paying with card (they pass on the 2% cc fee to the customer) and will give you the advertised fee on the menu only when you pay in cash. (Maybe that's why they aren't more busy?)

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I wish it were more busy :/ I think the name and decor may throw it off. The seared salmon nigiri is to die for. Great prices and great food.

Great lunch special. Fish was so fresh and sweet esp compared to a few other places in the area ?, def fresher than I’ve been able to get at the grocery stores. Shocked by how perfectly grilled the salmon was, rareish and soft on the inside with a good crust on the outside. Portions were huge, including the ginger/wasabi side dish. Server was super attentive and kept our water glasses full.

This is the closest act that parallels with my own dining experiences in Japan. High quality food at reasonable (for San Francisco) prices. Fresh. Well made. No nonsense.

Food was good, unfortunately I couldn't stop looking at all the mess inside the place.
Everything looked like it hasn't been cleaned since before Covid, the floors, windows and tables were disgusting. It makes you wonder.. if this is how they have the front face for customers, how does the back look like? unfortunately I didn't pay attention till I started eating.

would definitely drive from the East Bay to San Francisco just to eat here at the Salmon Bar & Grill

When you go out to eat a delicious meal, Service from staff has everything to do with it. If you’re not treated with patients kindness, courtesy, and proper timing it will make you spend your money somewhere else, this place was fantastic

The food is really good. But it’s Alexis and Wesley that keep us coming back. Having great service makes any meal that much better. Kudos to the owners for finding them and keeping them happy enough to stay for years.
