Overall worth the hype, definitely amongst the top KBBQ spots in the US, and the price reflects the food quality and good service. Definitely love to go back and try the very popular galbi and egg soufflé
+ Amazing food. I absolutely loved the tofu banchan, and the other 2 banchans were also quite nice. Jebi churi and kochi skewers were both flavorful and cooked to perfection. And the housemade samjang sauce was a great pairing with the grilled meat. Kimchi jjigae was tasty but a little too sour for me. And the black sesame soft serve was an incredible end to the dinner. The sundae looked simple but there were bits of chocolate, black sesame and huckleberry jam buried underneath the soft serve, making every bite super interesting and different (with minimal mess at that!)
- All the food was mostly fatty, salty and sweet forward. It’d be great to have something fresh and/or sour to cut through. I’d absolutely recommend ordering ssam/salad and more sour kimchi to eat with the grilled meat
+/- Decent service and atmosphere. They were quite busy so it might take a while to flag down a staff. Loved that they have hooks and cubicles to place belongings right next to your table
= Definitely try to make a reservation, or wait like 2+ hours for a table as they are very popular
Keeping traditional taste with the modernize visual effect requires exquisite planning and SHW acquired the taste of Korea and demonstrated in casual atmosphere.

I'll preface: I don't like being nickel and dimed.
Cote is far superior, in terms of meat quality, service, as well as price.
Arguably the only thing ahead is the sauce/marination game, but that's not enough to put it ahead.

Absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. Every dish was flawless—deep, perfectly balanced flavors, incredibly nuanced seasoning, and grilled meats with spot-on texture. The presentation was elegant, thoughtful, and a joy to experience.
The service took it over the top. Victoria and Rachael were amazing—warm, attentive, and made the night feel truly special.
Can’t wait to come back. This place is a must.

Shout out to the female staff that helped our table of 6 yesterday! We were an indecisive crowd, on top of that a few of us had tricky dietary restrictions. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful experience at SHW, thank youuu :)

Great atmosphere and food! We went with the set menu which includes 2 meats. We got the beef cheeks and beef neck. Both were very tender. We also got a separate order or beef tartar and beef mandu. Both great! The service was amazing our server took their time to explain each dish and best way to enjoy it.

Great food and service. The egg soufflé was fluffy and yummy and the meats were sooo tender. We went as a group of 5 and got the house menu. The beef neck fillet and beef cheeks were sooo tender. There was so much food on the house menu that we didn’t even need to order extra sides.

The food was amazing! We were celebrating my partner’s birthday, and the team made the experience even more special. We also have shellfish and dairy allergies, and they went above and beyond — they modified dishes and even provided us with a separate menu to fit our needs. Everything we ordered was delicious. We had the glazed short ribs, BBQ prime ribs, white rice, and the beef potstickers — all SO good! They also serve a lovely tea at the end, which was such a nice touch.
And I have to mention — the bathroom is insane. So beautiful and such a vibe.

Overpriced for what it is. Staff were attentive/friendly, but the flavors and overall vibe were just average. Sadly, not worth a return visit.

Absolutely amazing! The meat is fresh and flavorful, the sides are delicious, and the service extremely friendly. The restaurant is spotless with a clean, modern design, and you can tell they’re very detail-oriented in everything they do. They even surprised us with complimentary Polaroid photos! Easily one of the best spots in SF I’ve been to.
The toilets were incredible.

Why this place gets such high praise is truly an sf mystery.
Second time here. The first time is remembered only by an absolute abomination of a kimchi jjigae, to the point that I actually had to ask the server to make sure it would be nothing like the first one this time around (what we had the first time was some Mexican-inspired pozole spinoff of kimchi jjigae, which was thankfully gone from the menu)(no shade to Mexican food, it’s literally my favorite cuisine).
Good meat, nothing to write home about. 3 stars feels a bit low but 4 is definitely too high. Had three meat entrees and the best one was essentially a small ribeye steak.
Tangerine and milk soft serve was good.
Also, if my ancestors in Korea could see this $12 plate of ssam with 4 perilla leaves they would cry tears of blood. Korean food in the states has felt like daytime robbery for a while now, but this place takes the cake.
Nice toilet though, when I walked in the lid raised up automatically and the bowl lit up. Fun.

Great dining experience. We were a party of 3 and did the course menu. Wow, it was delicious. Added on the mandu as well. We were stuffed after and had food to take home. Service was 5 stars. Everyone was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend eating here. Make sure you make reservations as soon as they become available.
