Sassy Foods is a vegan dim sum restaurant located inside Imperial Garden, sharing the same space. The food is amazing, authentic, and incredibly flavorful, considered some of the best vegan food in San Francisco. The dedicated vegan menu offers a rare treat, with must-try items including the potstickers, described as the best ever, and the vegan xiao long bao, which are super juicy, scaldingly hot, and wildly meaty. The vegan BBQ "pork" buns are delicious and not too sweet, and the vegan siu mai are very moist, rich in flavor, and absolutely delicious. Other recommended dishes are the har gao, the Mixed Mush Chick'n Pan Fried Rice Noodle, the wood ear mushroom & cucumber salad with its flavorful dressing, and the vegan pan-fried chive dumplings. The mini sesame balls are delicious, though some wish they were softer. Portion sizes for plated dishes are very large, offering good value.
Service is friendly, kind, and attentive, though it can sometimes be a bit slow. The restaurant is very clean and well-organized. For the best experience, it is advised to come early to find parking in their limited lot and to ask for the vegan menu. Be aware that tea costs extra, with a higher charge for premium flavors, so it is best to ask. While pickup wait times can occasionally be longer than estimated, the solid food quality makes the restaurant highly recommended. The best approach is to go with a group and share the myriad delicious dishes.
