Several other freshly 21 friends and I showed THIS MAN our IDs and he denied us saying they were fake, these were deadass our real California aged 21 IDs, they were vertical and he was unconvinced, but that's literally how freshly 21 IDs work. Plus, it was one person's bday and she literally turned 21 TODAY and he said it looks fake?? WHY WOULD YOU LIE ABOUT THAT??? Who makes a fake id valid for a specific date he let in several other men with vertical IDs and this just feels misogynistic -- we literally told him to scan our IDs and he denied us that. Whoever owns this establishment, please check your employees' capabilities of distinguishing real IDs from fakes, you literally just lost like 15 customers at once

We arrived as a group of 8 and everyone presented an official ID or driver’s license (Belgian, Portuguese, passports). However, the guy at the bar refused to accept my French ID card, even though it is an official European document with the same format and validity as the others in our group. He told me I could not stay in the establishment, without giving any clear explanation.
When I pointed out that my friends had just entered moments before using similar identification under my eyes, he still asked me to leave again.
This treatment was absolutely shameful, unjustified, and felt clearly discriminatory. I strongly advise others to think twice before visiting this place, especially if not US citizen.

Super overrated. My friends always want to go here just because their picture is on the wall. It's ok but as a visitor I don't want to be at a local dive bar. Want to see the sights and experience real SF night life. This ain't it. It's good for the neighborhood if you live in the area I suppose. It's no different than any bar in your own hometown. Short of that, avoid if your time is limited. On an unrelated note... Kiss the band is meh.

Chelsea is hands down one of the best bartenders in SF! She’s friendly, quick, and makes you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time. Shanghai Kelly’s has that perfect mix of great vibes, strong drinks, and plenty of TVs for catching any game. Whether you’re just stopping in for a drink or settling in to watch sports with friends, this place never disappoints. Highly recommend grabbing a seat at the bar with Chelsea, she makes the experience even better! 🍻🏈🏀
