A San Francisco gem. Unique take on square pan pizza; sauce & cheese were excellent, crust was ok, a bit too burned (we’ll try ordering light next time). Mushroom appetizer was delicious but the star of this place is the pizza. Great drinks; semifredo dessert is A++

A really cool business model run by an even more dope staff. The interior is retro awesome and the dishware served is all fun and unique.? .Was great, lots of skin contact and trendy stuff, people were doing shots of wine, so unique.? .Thin crust, really well cooked, plus so many other things on the menu that pair well.We had the Pickles and the Garlic Knots which went great with a "trash pizza", which really just means upcycled ingredients.A pepperoni thin crust with chili oil on top plus we spread the ricotta fluff atop and really loved it.Vegetarian options: Lots of options, and vegan choices.

I want to go back and try everything on the menu!! We got the garlic knots and sausage party pizza, everything was delicious. While the decor is what catches people’s eye the FOOD is so good I would eat it in a dingy alley and still enjoy it. The seasoning on the ricotta fluff was addicting. Also loved the music, lighting, and the service was very fast.

If you can tolerate the eye burning atmosphere and eye watering high prices the food is absolutely delicious. I wouldn't go back because I hated the dining environment so much, even if I was able to justify the high prices because it's good for the planet. And even if you wanted "quirky" decor, who in their right mind makes menus with a black font under green lights. The last of consideration is just absolutely stunning

It's hard to get more San Francisco than this. Eco conscious, sustsinable, ultra hip, non conformist and highly creative.

There were 2 tables outside and we were seated in one of them, so I think we missed the actual ambience of the restaurant but it looked lively from outside. The service was nice and it didn't take long for the food to arrive. I like their concept for reducing waste but the food was very very mediocre. The portion size too was very small. The pizzas that were ordered weren't great either, it was way too greasy for me and I didn't like the crust too. And it is wayy overpriced, from the food to the drinks and doesn't really offer anything special to match it.

Super fun interior. Got the cheese pizza, meatball with cauliflower pureé, Caesar salad, garlic knots with ricotta, and cocktails.Their mission statement to use food that would otherwise be discarded is noble. But is it all hype?…the food was good, would recommend their meatballs (had an Indian undertone), the cheese pizza was crispy like a cracker but succulent and juicy.Def make reservations ahead of time, this is place is fun. Would recommend if you’re looking for a unique take on food. Head chef was cool too! Interior design is rock solid ✨

What an interesting place, and I say it as a compliment. Shuggie's is nothing like you've ever experienced before and totally worth the visit. The garlic knots were awesome but my favorite one was the Big Chee pizza. Try it if you are a garlic lover!

Style over substance. Ultimately the food’s description is already in the name.

Delicious pizza and like the philosophy of reusing stuff that would otherwise be wasted. However, the atmosphere was really unenjoyable due to the loud music and people shouting over each other just to be heard at their own tables. I think the music needs to be turned way down and there needs to either be less tables or noise insulation installed on the walls. My throat was sore from yelling to be heard at our table and my ears were ringing when I left. The server also brought us the wrong drinks.

It's a head scratcher to me that some of the 2 star reviews complain about the vessel the deliciously fresh salad is served in (apparently not having a male version of a goddess salad is enough to trigger a bad review) or how the chef dresses are criteria for Yelp reviews. My criteria are Ambiance, Food, Service and Quality of Ingredients.Ambiance: It's a dinner party! It can get a bit loud but the bright colors, the throwback songs, the up-cycled furniture all contribute to having a great time. I love seating at either of the bars - one to watch the kitchen hard at work, the other to see all the great natural wines poured.Food: Creative, with a great mission to reduce food waste. Some have an Asian fusion twist on it - I had a soy glazed fish collar with thai chilis over it and the flavors were well-balanced and the fish cooked to perfection. Kama is easy to produce dry and this wasn't it. The grandma style pizzas - cooked in the oven on a sheet pan - are creative and a breath of fresh air compared to your traditional pizza spots. The sourdough they use is also a highlight for me.Service: Attentive. My water glass was hardly ever empty. I appreciate how the owners will come around to talk to you about the food or check up on how you're doing. It shows they care. When food was a little backed up, I was given a heads up.Quality of Ingredients: This is my biggest factor in going out to eat these days. So many restaurants think they can get away with a single taco for $12 but use ingredients I've seen at Chef's Warehouse (prepackaged, sad looking lettuce, commercial cheese and doughs, etc.). With Shuggies, I know that their ingredients are coming from the local Farmer's Market -- not only because that's where they started but also because their whole mission is to reduce the food that's wasted when people aren't picking produce because of slight imperfections, or parts of protein that are traditionally thrown out. I've been to eat here a few times now and I can see that they're listening to feedback and improving the menu each time -- the desserts the last time I went were leaps ahead of what they offered at opening. Don't be afraid to give it a try, and a revisit.
