I had only eaten at Sociale one previous time, sitting at their little two person bar a few years ago and had always wanted to return. I cannot fathom why I have not been back until this evening. What an exceptional night! The pillowy little rolls with delicious butter, cream of mushroom soup, a rockshrimp pasta that was not my favorite, but I could appreciate the flavors, and then a fall off the bone short rib with turnip “risotto”. Creative food, but still comforting and delicious.. Finished with an affogato, and throughout the meal, multiple glasses of wonderfully recommended wine. But most importantly, the service was truly exceptional. The servers, the runners, every single person treated me as though I was a regular, even though this is only my second time here. Beautiful food and beautiful people.

Had a private room for a function. The space was quiet and secluded with its own private bathroom. Service was attentive. The wine list is extensive and well researched. Food was good, dessert was excellent. A must try on Sacramento Street.

Sociale is my favorite restaurant in SF. Delicious food always. The nicest, rarely changing staff, cozy atmosphere tucked down a little alleyway, twinkling with fairy lights in the outdoors courtyard, and embraces you with genuine warmth within. I had the truffle pasta, branzino, and profiteroles last night. Could not have been more scrumptious. And an extensive, excellent wine list with a knowledgeable person in charge of it. Intimate and elegant without a trace of stuffiness. Fantastic!

Always a joy to go here. Great food, great service in a great atmosphere. What more could you want? And the patio is a nicely protected area with plenty of warmth even in harsh weather. Fully approved by our doggie.

The 4-course New Year's Eve dinner was excellent and great value. The food, service and atmosphere of the restaurant are always memorable. The venue is very unique: It's a home and front-yard converted into a restaurant and feels casual but so elegant. Reservation is recommended.

Got the Hiramasa Crudo special - was the best thing we ate. Mushroom risotto was dry and flavorless. Eggplant parm was too salty. Truffle pasta was fine - was fine and truffles carried it. Rabbit pasta was also just ok - meat was dry, was expecting more of a ragu. Profiteroles were stale and disgusting. The White bean Crostino was a cool idea, but not executed well. This place used to be special, it has gone downhill. Service however was A+. They were on the spot. Saved an otherwise uninspiring meal.

Went for a special occasion bc there was a fond memory of it being a charming restaurant with great food. However, things must've changed. Medium rare requested wagyu came out gray, over seasoned and was tough as leather. None of the staff who kept passing by our table ever asked why we weren't eating our food. Think they knew but didn't want to deal with it. Noise level critique not really their fault. But acoustics were so bad that you couldn't ignore the loudmouth family that made sure everyone knew they were regulars and wouldn't shut up. Other diners were giggling along with us about how bad the experience was.

This is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Excellent food and atmosphere with fantastic service. Outdoor seating is lit and heated in a beautiful setting.

Horrible experience

Very inattentive service, never brought our first course and the main course which was their chef special pork was raw , cold and red in center! Very expensive and tiny pour on wines

Never apologized or tried to get us something better to eat and acted like they did a huge favor not charging for the dish they never brought and the inedible pork.

We left hungry,

Avoid this place

I selected Sociale for a friend's birthday dinner. It was lovely! They remembered it was her special day. The menu was plentiful -- great options. Fresh, quality and innovative dishes (the special rigatoni with sausage and marasala was to die for!). The halibut cooked perfectly. And the Oblivion cake a great ending. Wines were very nice and the server was beyond attentive and helpful. Always there with suggestions and making sure our evening was lovely. The location and venue is charming and great for outdoors or indoor dining. ENJOY!

We had a favorite neighborhood restaurant for years, Mescolanza which has closed of recent years. We hadn't been to Sociale in awhile.Happy to say that Sociale is now our go to favorite Italian restaurant in town. Love the food especially the tagaliatelle Bolognese and the scallops. Great service, wonderful ambience.
