I used to go here years ago, and just recently started work again in the area. Seems like most the reviews here are just about the salad. I got the rotisserie chicken and sides, and pretty quickly regretted it. The chicken is dry and has been sitting under heat lamps for god-knows how long. The mac-n-cheese was room temperature at best. What shame. Fingers crossed I had a bad lunch and nothing worse comes of it.

Disgusting, found a huge cockroach looking bug in the salad. Will not be going back.took it back and they said it was probably in the mix.

I appreciate these mf's on such a deep level. The area surrounding the embarcadero is littered with some of the most expensive and stingey lunch spots in the entire city. SOMA Chicken makes a small southwest chicken salad for $8.16 after tax. DO NOT BE FOOLED by the small containers. The contents of a small salad are bigger than any blue barn salad you will get for over $15. The large is about double the size and would be a suitable meal for Hafthor Bjornsson, the Mountain from GoT. To be clear SOMA Chicken does not skimp you on the most crucial contents (chicken and avocado) like every other place in this area will. Not only do you get a ton of food for very cheap, but they are really really tasty and all the ingredients are the most fresh. Do not freak out about the line out of the door. My favorite part about this place is how quickly they rip throw the line. They have 3-4 people working during lunch time and they make your salad in 30 seconds or less. I have never spent more then 3 mins in this lunch spot. Make sure to thank them on your way out because they are working hard. They have me completely sold, I straight up don't need to go anywhere else for lunch.

Want salad? Here you go! I've gotten into the habit of eating salads for lunch. Lucky for me, Soma Chicken is right across the street from my work. They are located at the food court in Rincon Center. Soma Chicken is a small family owned business that specializes in serving Salads with various ingredients. You have the option of choosing one of the salads off their menu or make your own. I usually go with either the Southwestern, Barbecue chicken or Chicken Spinach Apple Salad. Once in a while I ask them to toss in something different in my salad to change the flavors. The salads come with roasted chicken breast so they can be filling even for big eaters like myself. If you are a vegetarian or just don't feel like having chicken, ask them and you shall receive! It addition to salads, they do serves roasted chicken legs or wings, macaroni and cheese, soups and a couple of other things. The prices are reasonable for the location and the quality of the ingredients is pretty good. Go ahead and have a salad!

Soma Chicken has everything you need for a quick lunch spot. You get a lot of food for the price and they'll mix whatever your little heart desires. They're speedy, easy going and nice.

OVERALL: Worth stopping in for a quick salad to see for yourself. Fast. Good chicken. OK other toppings. I like that there are noodles in the soma chicken salad. Hefty portions for a reasonable price (for the area). Slice of bread is too buttery and remember to ask for light dressing because they load you up.

I was feeling sick so wanted soup. Their large soup looked small to me, so I also ordered a sub. Chicken noodle soup was probably the best I've ever had. So perfect and tasty, made me feel so much better. Then stll had room for pesto chicken sandwich, which was really good. I do think it's the chicken they roast! First time eating from here, wil definitely go back! Oh btw the large soup is more than enough as a meal by itself

I saw this place open yesterday and decided to try them out today. The decor made the place feel warm and inviting(Moroccan themed?) They have almost a whole wall/fridge selection of drinks(alcohol and non alcoholic drinks). I had the bacon and egg breakfast sandwich. It was a little sweet so I would add either some salt or a hot sauce to it to balance it out. Overall my first experience here was good even though it was only 5 minutes. I'll probably come back again to try out thier lunch or happy hours menu.

It's not on the menu, but you can ask for a small salad.

Love this place. It was the best bang for my buck working at the Embarcadero. I always ordered a small bbq chicken or Chinese chicken salad with a side of mac n cheese. So good!

The food is tasty and healthy. Short lines and very quick to make the salads. Also, great quality for the price. Down side is not many options.

Used to be my favorite salad place but has seriously gone down hill. It's like they have 3 new people that they never trained so there is no consistency. I used to never have to specify dressing preference they just included a reasonable amount. Now it's a total crap shoot based on who makes you salad. If you ask for easy dressing they look at you and say "tell me when to stop" as they squirt a giant container into a huge bowl as if the customer can somehow tell how much that is. If you ask for it on the side they get bitchy and give you a 2 oz cup half full of dressing. Train your employees and loss the attitude.

SOMA Chicken is one of the best, if not the best salad place in all of San Francisco. The ingredients are all fresh, portions are big, and price is really reasonable. Not like Mixt or Ladle and Leaf where you end up paying almost 20 bucks for a tiny salad and barely any protein. I usually make my own salad with chicken and it comes out to under 12 bucks. They are generous with the amount of ingredients they give and let you specify how much dressing you want, etc. The reviews about how they give too much dressing are completely unfounded - you just tell them how much you want! I'm an Asian engineer working in tech in the downtown area. I needed a lunch place where I could feel full after eating but not tired from the sodium or too much oils. I also wanted a place where I could get good, fresh food for a reasonable price, without a long wait. In SOMA chicken, I found all this and more. Go to SOMA chicken!! You will not regret it. My only complaint is that they are not open for dinner. If they were I would literally eat every meal here. Thank you SOMA chicken!!

Place is okay. But the lettuce tasted like straight E-Coli. The most plastic like substance of all lettuces that I've had so far. Might as well be display food.
