Wonderful restaurant with terrific food and service. We share the seasonal salad and the stuffed calamari to start. Both were excellent. My wife had a wonderful pasta stuffed with pea puree and in a pea sauce. I had a stuffed pasta with cheese. Both were exceptional. The olive oil cake finished the night. Fine wine list with many affordable offerings. We had a bottle of Arnie's and it was just right. The service is very attentive from the reception to the goodby.
A young and happening place. The food is excellent. I will order the steak, the oysters and my husbands pasta dish again. Sorella is lays top notch but not snobby. Our waitress was a sweet heart and hard working.
Outstanding food and service. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was great, she offered suggestions and ensured that my meal was prepared without garlic. We laughed about how loud the music was and she had it turned down a bit and even put a favorite song on the playlist. We love Acquarello, the parent company of Sorella. Sorella is continuing the tradition with superb food “in the family”. We started with the tuna crudo with fresh anchovies and tonnato sauce. Beautiful presentation and it tasted even better than it looked. Every bite had another flavor profile all of which worked perfectly with each other. I had the spaghetti alla chitarra, with clams and fennel. I am a big fan of linguine with clams and this was a very interesting version. They added fennel and lots of different herbs and spices, the flavor exploded in your mouth. My husband had the drunken mafaldine with braised beef cheeks. The beef checks were very tender and melted in your mouth. We shared the gelato for dessert which was a perfect ending. They also brought some complimentary candy at the end of the meal. Especially liked the passion fruit. The wine list had a lot of interesting wines by the bottle and glass. Highly recommend Sorella, we will definitely be back.
The food was even better than I remember and service was attentive but not overbearing. After this meal, I am coming here more.
Sorella is a beautiful restaurant with high ceilings and large windows. The tables aren't too close to one another because of the large dining room space. The food we ordered was very good (hanger steak, special pasta of the day was stuffed with ricotta and had a beautiful sauce). The bread was delicious. The one thing that I would mention is the menu does not offer dairy free options for those who are lactose intolerant or dairy free. Every single pasta (even the gnocchi) was made with butter and cheese and the server could not accommodate me with any type of pasta which as a huge disappointment. The hanger steak had a sauce made with butter so I ordered it without the sauce. otherwise the only other options were the beet salad without the cheese or the green salad without the cheese. Also if you are vegan, there are simply no options unless you order a salad without the dairy/cheese and the bread. The service was nice but it felt rushed. It seemed the staff were too eager to remove plates that should have been left for a few more minutes. There was no break between appetizer and entree. We were in and out of the restaurant in 55 minutes. Not very relaxing. Unfortunately we would not choose to go back again due to there being no pasta to accommodate lactose free customers and the rushed service.
Sorella is my favorite Italian restaurant in SF. The Drunken Mafaldine is just amazing. Love the place, the service and the staff.
Lovely dinner. Very nice menu. A few interesting and different things, and some more recognizd stuff. The lobster lasagna was great, and had lovely flavors. Good food all around. Loved the chicory salad too. Definitely get the Olive Oil cake. It was worth it! Waitress could not have been better!
Always creative, delicious & seasonal, the level of excellence at Sorella is worth more than they charge. Consistently superb, with wines that perfectly complement the food and inventive harmonious cocktails that add novel delicious tastes to your experience. Sorella is a neighborhood gem, a date night delight, and a regular place to feel pampered.
Food was very creative. Pasta cooked in red wine our favorite. Service with Nicole was excellent!!
One of the best meals I've had in San Francisco. Everything we had was delicious and very well seasoned. The hanger steak was cooked to perfection and the mafaldine was super savory. Will be back again soon!

I always walk by Sorella, so I finally decided to give it a try and made a reservation. I was excited to check it out. Unfortunately, when I arrived, the table wasn't ready on time, and there was a short wait. However, the manager personally apologized for the delay, and our waitress kindly offered a complimentary appetizer, which was greatly appreciated. It really showed that they go above and beyond to ensure guests feel well taken care of. The staff overall was very friendly and professional, and the service throughout the evening was solid. I also really enjoyed the wine selection—it was thoughtfully curated and paired nicely with the atmosphere. That said, I personally didn't find the food to be worth the price, considering the flavor and portion sizes. Sorella is definitely a fun spot, but it's not somewhere I'd be likely to revisit on my own.
My first time here, I was hoping for an exceptional experience and I love top tier pasta like flour and water and spqr so along those lines. I will say this delivered. Everything from the sourdough bread to start, the perfectly made Quintessential cocktail, incredible oysters (some of the best I've had in some time) were perfect. I had the porcini and egg Fagottelli and my partner had the gnocchi and both were exceptional. We also had the roasted carrots as a side and I will tell you you've never had carrots like this. Amazing. Highly recommend this place.
Love the seasonal menu with some standards that may be modified but always amazing. One of our go too places that never disappoints.
There is no other place that I would go other than Sorella !! Best of the best, Give a try to chef Fernanda's Pasta !!!! It is a must
We had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was unacceptably poor, with staff showing little regard for customer satisfaction. On top of that, they made multiple billing errors, overcharging us significantly. Worse still, we had to catch these mistakes ourselves—no one from the staff noticed or acknowledged the issue. Even after pointing it out, there was no apology offered. To make matters worse, the food was mediocre at best, with nothing standing out in terms of flavor or quality. This level of carelessness and lack of accountability, combined with average food, makes this place a hard pass. We will not be returning and cannot recommend it to others.
