Wonderful food and service. Upscale casual with many celebrating birthdays, so nice for a special occasion. Cocktail program is solid plus some nice wines by the glass. We enjoyed oysters, salad, appetizers and pasta. Kelsey was the perfect server, attentive but not intrusive, delivering great advice on both dishes and drinks. She even heard my regret at not having enough appetite to try a dessert I was interested in, so brought a small sample to the table. Afterwords, the Culinary Director Fernanda Baggio came to our table and we had a great conversation about her background and the receipt of the Michelin-recommended award. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.
We jokingly asked our server if the desserts were better than Bob's Donut Shop, a San Francisco institution a few doors away. She said we'd have to judge for ourselves. When dessert arrived it included a cream-filled Bob's donut which she'd gone to the effort o buying for us! You don't get service like that every day. Thanks Sorella.
great meal, great service, a bit pricey ($600 for 4 inc tip) one good bottle of wine & a few cocktails
This was my first time at this restaurant and can't wait to come back. The ambiance is lovely, our waitress was excellent, and the food was outstanding.
Great food and ambiance. I suspect the non alcoholic negroni mocktail has alcohol in it though. Watch out for that! Pasta is always great
Everything was excellent! The food was delicious!! And the setting is so lovely. Thank you.
Sorella is a charming restaurant, and one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The staff is friendly, the vibe is upscale casual, and the food... brace yourself for quite an experience. We found the warm parmesan budino appetizer - essentially a souffle - to be exquisite: light, fluffy, and delicately flavored. My wife had the potato gnocchi which is served with a duck bolognese, while my entree was the drunken mafaldine - beef cheek with burrata and noodles soaked in red wine. Both were out of this world good. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu, which was another winner. This restaurant will earn a Michelin star someday, of that I am certain. It's that good.
I hadn't eaten here since the opening and was so happy to find the yumminess, quality, and service had not changed! Everything was delicious! Our server was wonderful. She was so sweet. I told her it was our anniversary and she brought us a flute of prosecco to toast. So thoughtful!
Wonderful restaurant with terrific food and service. We share the seasonal salad and the stuffed calamari to start. Both were excellent. My wife had a wonderful pasta stuffed with pea puree and in a pea sauce. I had a stuffed pasta with cheese. Both were exceptional. The olive oil cake finished the night. Fine wine list with many affordable offerings. We had a bottle of Arnie's and it was just right. The service is very attentive from the reception to the goodby.
A young and happening place. The food is excellent. I will order the steak, the oysters and my husbands pasta dish again. Sorella is lays top notch but not snobby. Our waitress was a sweet heart and hard working.

Outstanding food and service. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was great, she offered suggestions and ensured that my meal was prepared without garlic. We laughed about how loud the music was and she had it turned down a bit and even put a favorite song on the playlist. We love Acquarello, the parent company of Sorella. Sorella is continuing the tradition with superb food “in the family”. We started with the tuna crudo with fresh anchovies and tonnato sauce. Beautiful presentation and it tasted even better than it looked. Every bite had another flavor profile all of which worked perfectly with each other. I had the spaghetti alla chitarra, with clams and fennel. I am a big fan of linguine with clams and this was a very interesting version. They added fennel and lots of different herbs and spices, the flavor exploded in your mouth. My husband had the drunken mafaldine with braised beef cheeks. The beef checks were very tender and melted in your mouth. We shared the gelato for dessert which was a perfect ending. They also brought some complimentary candy at the end of the meal. Especially liked the passion fruit. The wine list had a lot of interesting wines by the bottle and glass. Highly recommend Sorella, we will definitely be back.
The food was even better than I remember and service was attentive but not overbearing. After this meal, I am coming here more.
Sorella is a beautiful restaurant with high ceilings and large windows. The tables aren't too close to one another because of the large dining room space. The food we ordered was very good (hanger steak, special pasta of the day was stuffed with ricotta and had a beautiful sauce). The bread was delicious. The one thing that I would mention is the menu does not offer dairy free options for those who are lactose intolerant or dairy free. Every single pasta (even the gnocchi) was made with butter and cheese and the server could not accommodate me with any type of pasta which as a huge disappointment. The hanger steak had a sauce made with butter so I ordered it without the sauce. otherwise the only other options were the beet salad without the cheese or the green salad without the cheese. Also if you are vegan, there are simply no options unless you order a salad without the dairy/cheese and the bread. The service was nice but it felt rushed. It seemed the staff were too eager to remove plates that should have been left for a few more minutes. There was no break between appetizer and entree. We were in and out of the restaurant in 55 minutes. Not very relaxing. Unfortunately we would not choose to go back again due to there being no pasta to accommodate lactose free customers and the rushed service.
Sorella is my favorite Italian restaurant in SF. The Drunken Mafaldine is just amazing. Love the place, the service and the staff.
Lovely dinner. Very nice menu. A few interesting and different things, and some more recognizd stuff. The lobster lasagna was great, and had lovely flavors. Good food all around. Loved the chicory salad too. Definitely get the Olive Oil cake. It was worth it! Waitress could not have been better!
