This is simply not good food and I’m not sure why everyone is pretending that it is.

Souvla is a must spot for me! I eat here at least once a week.
Great for a casual meal for people new to the city without breaking the bank — they are cheaper options, but Souvla’s seating area (and music choice) is top quality per dollar of how much the food is. Friendly service from 11am - 10pm is quite the feat as well!
The food:
Amazing — my go-to 100% of the time is the chicken salad without granch (olive oil and cheese only) and I make it Greek style which adds 7-12 super fresh fries. It’s great for OMAD fasting!

First thing to note is that the service here is top tier! The staff at this location on Divisadero are super friendly and accommodating. I’ve visited 4 out of the 5 Souvla locations in SF so far, and I always feel so welcome, which makes each in-person visit feel special.
I got the chicken salad (my fave) with a side of Greek fries, and the weekend I went, they were giving out a complimentary mini honey baklava Greek froyo with each entrée purchase. Everything tasted great and really hit the spot.
I feel like everyone in SF is either obsessed with Souvla or thinks it’s overhyped. I am definitely part of the first group. I’m never not down for Souvla; it’s just that good.

I will just speak about their takeout since I haven’t dined in. But as a big fan of Greek/Turkish food, I’d have to say Souvla is vastly overrated. Have eaten here at least a dozen times since it’s close by and fast but nothing in here except the soup does it for me. Especially disappointed with their lamb.
It’s essentially a self serve restaurant in a beautiful location with OK food. They don’t have a lot of options.

Good was good. Had a lamb souvla, fries, and a Greek version of Coke. Very tasty. Has a nice dining area out back. The baclava and frozen yogurt dessert looked amazing.

Gelatinous globs of pork fat mixed in with well-seasoned but dry chunks of meat in the pork gyro leading their menu. The fries were good at least. But I’m totally mystified how this place is so successful.
