Spruce is a must have experience in San Francisco. A beautiful space with world class service, an amazing wine list, and unforgettable food. It is my go to place for a business lunch or a family outing. Nothing beats it! John S.

Exceptional service. Excellent winelist. Very small portions and expensive. Not much value.

Always exceptional food and service! I would love to seethe outside Parklets come back too, we really enjoyed those as well but the dining room is great and the energy lively.

Everything was a hit, their whipped panna cotta is a must! Service was impeccable, and the restaurant was beautiful. Perfect for any occasion.

Arrived at 7:30 for a 7:45 reservation. We weren't seated until 9pm when we insisted on just letting us take an open table at the bar. The dinner was extremely expensive and we were given one free drink for the inconvenience. Disappointing experience overall. I've had good experiences at Spruce previously so I'm hoping this was just an off night

We were four adults arriving 1/18/26 promptly for our 730pm seating, and we were welcomed professionally and amicably, and seated immediately. From there everything started to go downhill, and continued throughout the evening. We sat for 12 minutes with no one offfering a welcome, water service, or anything. Finally our server, Brianne R. appeared and took our cocktail order, and she then took 25 minutes before reappearing with our order. It gets worse. She was continually enthralled, engrossed, and captivated with a party of six at the adjoining table, and that unprofessionalism prevailed throughout the entire evening. We may as well been at another restaurant 100 miles away. Finally, two starter butternut squash soups arrived and were served nearly cold....barely lukewarm. I am sure they sat on the service counter and were ignored by her because she was so absorbed with the other table. After nearly two hours at our table, our entrees finally arrived (one striped bass; two duck; one chicken). The fish was tasteless, cold, and with congealed sauce; both of the duck services were also cold......my duck would have been appropriate in a lunch salad but certainly was inappropriate for a fine dining dinner entree. Fifteen minutes after finishing dinner, our service plates, along with the empty plate that the amuse bouche had arrived upon, and empty cocktail glasses, remained on the table. At that juncture we decided to end this torture, chose a quick dessert, and depart. After I left a minimal tip, which even that was undeserved, and as we were putting on our coats, it was apparent that Brianne had noticed the tip amount as I received a look from Brianne that would have stopped a locomotive. The entire evening lacked professional service flow.

Spruce always feels like such a treat. The food is exceptional and the service is always professional

Lovely meal, beautiful in the plate and palate and attentive, but not intrusive, staff. The star left off for ambience is for the cold breeze that hit us every time the door opened and the (ahem) nonfunctioning toilet (which staff was alerted to and prepared to address).

Food was amazing, service really went above & beyond. Only negative is that we were seated as 5 towards the back & there was a pretty significant draft.

Thoroughly satisfying on all fronts. Excellent, informed service without the condescension one gets in high-end dining rooms. Interesting food approaches but not eccentric. Also offers a range of terrific wine by the glass options from all over the world. Will definitely go back.

Outstanding food and service here. Great atmosphere and nice decor. Sephiscated bar with variety of wine selections and table service matini. Lunch menu from $65 per person. Love the seasonal white truffle pasta. Its homemade pasta here. We will be back next time to try other dishes.

Late review- came to celebrate a birthday and had the BEST service. It was fun bringing a wine expert and fellow restauranteur here. Love having him experience and interact with the Somm. Highly recommend- make a reservation and enjoy! We did !!

Overall one of he most disappointing fine dining experiences we’ve had in recent memory and we dine out a lot. First, service. Front of house needs to get its act together. No attention to customer desires . Mostly interested in packing the bar for walk in service. we showed up at 4:15 for a 5:00 sit down reservation . Fine they did not open until 5 but were told bar service at 4:45 so went for a walk in very chilly SF and were first to arrive at 4:45. We were seated on sofas offered menu for cocktails but the server did not return until 5as he was attending to bar walk ins. We did not feel like valued patrons. at 5:05 staff seated us and said the cocktails would come to our table. finally our server was able to wrangle the goods at 5:15. Food. 3 course prix fixe menu with lobster and truffle pasta upgrades. Butter poached lobster with americaine sauce . Frankly i do a better job of poaching lobster. tail meat was tough. Sauce was not classic as not a tomato in sight. “Signature dry aged “ duck. A. plate of food arrived cool! B. duck skin was tough and flaccid and the meat was poorly butchered leaving tough to cut sinew on the underside of the duck breast slice. White truffle pasta was pretty lackluster being overwhelmed by the taste of parmesan- reminiscent of a child’s pasta plate. Beignets were good but we didn’t spend 125 per person to get warm doughnuts. this place was packed . Maybe they came for the burgers fries and cookies.
