Favourite cafe in the city
Delicious sandwiches and great coffee!
I stopped by Stable Cafe while visiting San Francisco and was seriously impressed. I had the Turkey Avocado sandwich — fresh, flavorful, and definitely a must try. The coffee was also excellent, rich and smooth. The space is cozy and the staff were welcoming. Not sure when I’ll be back in the city, but this spot was a highlight of my trip.
Make sure to try the toast and plum jam. The jam is made from the trees in their garden, such a special touch and absolutely delicious.
Cute garden, ridiculously small portions. Paid 60$ for a lunch for two and will have to go elsewhere for a second lunch.
Heard good things about this place so bad to stop by. Cute patio seating and also fresh orange juice is always a big plus for me.
Got the chilaquiles and a sticky bun will have to come back and try all the other things that caught my eye. Very fresh and friendly service quick too!
We held the wedding reception of our dreams at Stable Cafe, and it was truly magical. The garden-like setting created the most enchanting atmosphere-it felt like a hidden paradise in the middle of the city. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by beauty, warmth, and a sense of calm that made the evening unforgettable.
The in-house catering was absolutely incredible-our guests are still raving about the food! Every dish was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented.
A special thank you to Karen and her amazing team at Stable Cafe, who went above and beyond to make everything feel seamless. They were incredibly attentive, thoughtful, and made sure every detail looked and felt perfect. Their care allowed us to fully enjoy the night with our loved ones.
We couldn't have imagined a better place to celebrate such a special moment in our lives. If you're a future newlywed searching for the perfect venue, I cannot recommend Stable Cafe enough.
I got a breakfast sandwich, the lemon aioli was good. But it was served on thin sliced white sourdough bread - isn’t San Francisco known for their amazing sourdough loaves? That was kind of lame, definitely was a sandwich I could’ve made at home.
We hosted our wedding at Stable Cafe, and were delighted by the entire experience. They were responsive during the planning process, working with us at every step and accommodating our special requests. The food was amazing (we especially enjoyed the elote salad!) The courtyard easily accommodated our 42 guests. The atmosphere of the venue is very cozy, with lots of plants both indoors and outdoors.

The ambiance carries this place, the food less so. It’s great for a group of people that all want different things (sandwich vs chilaquiles vs tartine or toast) but there’s better places nearby for each of those things. They also normally have 1 savory vegan option, it’s honestly hit or miss depending on the season. Right now the only vegan thing on the menu is the overnight oats which is just really disappointing for SF and the mission. This place is so hip and fun and filled to the brim with plants and yet doesn’t have plant based food :(
I only come here occasionally because my boyfriend likes the chilaquiles but every time I’m disappointed by the lack of vegan options and the quality, even when they do have a vegan item on the menu. Robins cafe around the corner is so much better, but sure, they don’t have an enormous shaded patio.
Vegetarian options: A few vegetarian options but little to no vegan options.

The two baristas never greeted me and didn't acknowledge me while I was looking at the menu because they were chatting with a friend. Eventually after the friend left they acknowledged me.
My wallet was $7 lighter for a small chai that didn't taste great. They need to switch up their chai brand. There were no to-go lids for the drink.
The patio is cute, but that would be the only draw since the service is nonexistent and the chai isn't good. I didn't try the food, but wouldn't come back to chance it.

We just had our wedding yesterday and wanted to write this review while it’s still fresh in our minds. This was the perfect venue for us. We had 80 guests who all remarked on what a beautiful and perfect venue space it was. Karen made the night flow so smoothly - from the ceremony transitioning to the cocktail hour transitioning to the reception. There wasn’t any detail left missing. Karen and the team also kindly accommodated our requests to add some sake based mixed drinks, specific bread options, and serving of a roast pig (which we sourced from an outside vendor).
Now the food - that was exceptional. My partner and I take well cooked and well seasoned food very seriously. We wanted the food to be the main focus of the venue and Stable Cafe went above and beyond to deliver. I knew it would be good when reviewing the menu options. The ingredients were sourced by Chefs Guillermo and Najla at the local farmers market earlier that week. Everything was prepared with such care and love. It was all consistent and well cooked throughout the guest tables and our couples plates were delicious. As part of the summer menu, we went with the elote salad, melon cucumber salad, roasted potatoes for appetizers. The elote salad got the most mentions of the night. We went with the steak and fish for the mains (incredible cooking time - the fish was fresh and delicate, the steak was a perfect medium rare). Such a difficult thing to do for large parties. The experience in cooking really shows.
Loved this venue and would absolutely recommend it for a wedding. I’ll be returning for their cafe as well!
