Health & safety concerns. Gross. I ordered a bacon egg & cheese on an everything bagel and I watched the woman making my sandwich constantly sniffling and wiping her nose with her bare hands - she was obviously pretty sick. She then proceeded to make my sandwich without washing her hands or using gloves, raw dogging the bagel, the cheese slices and the bacon and mashing it down with her hands. I’m not a germaphobe and I’ve worked in a few restaurants so I know that nothing is as sanitary as you’d ideally like it to be but this was straight up gross. I should have said something but didn’t want to deal so I paid for it. I did not eat it. Reasonably priced as far as SF goes.

Love the turkey sandwich on Asiago cheese bagel, been eating it for probably 14 years. A lot of love in that sandwich. Neighborhood place with fair prices and character.
Small business, great tasting food! Super quick and priced well. Great neighborhood staple!

Best bagels in SF — why isn’t this place swarmed?!! Just got back from NYC and these are perfect NYC style — so good you can enjoy them without toasting. Really nice guy at the counter, too!

The Star Bagel store initially looked closed to me from the outside because the building and the advertising looked extremely run down. It wasn't until I got closer and someone came out of the store that I knew the store was open. A very sparse interior, also quite outdated, but the operator was super friendly and both the bagel and cream cheese were delicious.
The Everything Bagel also had coarse salt and the spring onion cream cheese tasted nice and intensely of spring onions. The operator told me that he bakes the bagels fresh himself every morning and doesn't buy them from a company like many others. I think you can taste it!!!
I'll definitely be happy to come back here when I'm in the area.

I pick-up. Very friendly, and better than the place on Fillmore--Jew who knows his lox and bagels.

The bagel itself is what I was expecting and pretty good. However, what left a bad flavor was the elder person working today around 1:30pm. She was rude, didn’t say hello, and was patronizing when we asked for the prices of each order. She asked if we grew up here in America and aware of the tax system, and then proceeded to slam the receipt on our orders. (We needed to know the prices so we could pay each other later). Never coming again, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

The owner was very friendly and the breakfast sandwiches were reasonably priced. That said I just got an everything bagel.

Freshest most delicious bagel, great eggs and sausage with fresh veggie ingredients. This place gives large, fair portions and has good prices - rare in SF. GREAT coffee prices and size too! I got egg sando but the lunch looks amazing. Family run business with a hardworking gentleman working while seems a grandson helps restock. Great place to support!
