Fresh home made bagels every day with lots of selections, very nice owner who works hard and keeps prices down so more people can afford the food. Good selection of sandwiches, all delicious, especially the breakfast sandwiches.
Easily the best (and most disgusting) bagel shop on polk street! years ago I came in for a breakfast bagel, the lady was mopping the floor. She stopped what she was doing, took my order and cash, got change, and proceeded to make the bagel. Halfway through she cut her finger opening a pack of cheese with a knife, looked at the wound, and proceeded to make my bagel. I ate it anyway. It was delicious! Thank you! I'll be back.
I was ready to walk down the block to another, trendier shop, but boy am I glad I stopped into Star Bagel! The owner was SO nice and the bacon, egg, and cheese was the best I've had since living in NYC. And the prices are likely the best you'll find in the Bay Area.
