Everything was disappointing during our visit. Cream curdled in the coffee and the staff didn’t seem to know what to do about that. Eggs were ordered scrambled, came fried. The muffins on display were still in their plastic wrapping indicating they’d been bought at a grocery store - very ordinary.

This is a small place that serves freshly made breakfast. The options are limited, but at a reasonable price. We were there for breakfast but they serve it all day, according to the signs. You do have to get your own stuff (silverware, drinks, food) from the counter.

Nobody was at counter to help. Saw employee who just stood there and did nothing. Not worth your time.

Delish breakfast.

Unpretentious, good price, great service. For the price in this area this is a good deal. We had an hour before the museum of ice cream opened and we wanted a clean comfy place for a sandwich and pastry. We were happy with our sandwiches and danishes.

Centrally located close to many hotels. Quicker than hotel breakfast and certainly cheaper, but not above average.

Good low key place for a warm sandwich and coffee

I had the English morning breakfast two days in a row. I asked for poached eggs and it was terrific. Service is polite and coffee is fine. Cheaper than my hotel across the street and the breakfast is better!

Bad attitude! TERRIBLE! You can find better ones nearby.

This little cafe is in a great location, but my breakfast was disappointing. The cup my tea came in had bits of food crusted on the outside. Poached eggs were half water. They served potatoes with no ketchup to be had. I had to search for my own cutlery and the napkins were located someplace else. It was just me and two staff members. They sat there and watched TV while I ate. I'd give this place a pass. The bill was about $15. Not cheap in my book.

We found this diner by accident, as the one we had been recommended had a massive queue outside: at my age I refuse to queue for my food! It's small with only a few tables, and not too many breakfast choices, which means that what they do, they do very well. Several English people came in and left again quickly, but they were missing a trick. The food was delicious, piping hot, and obviously freshly prepared, and the potato hashbrowns, which I normally don't like, were fabulous, more like rösti potatoes. Having made our own version of a muffuletta (a giant Sicilian sandwich) in the past, we thought about coming back one lunchtime, but we were always somewhere else at that time.

We stayed at the Hilton 1 block up but the breakfast there was very expensive so we walked down to the Sunflower every morning. Excellent food, friendly staff and great service I would recommend this cafe.

I visited when the place was empty. Ordered eggs and coffee. Decided not to put cream in due to the off smell of the cream canister. Though a waitress brought me my eggs, I had to remind her to bring the coffee and then I still had to stand up and search for cutlery and a napkin. Maybe the concept here is like a cantina line where you get everything yourself. But nobody told me that and I was sitting alone in the place with just the cook and waitress.

Friendly staff and quick service, make this a great place for breakfast, and much better value than most of the other places around Union Square.
