We had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, so we made plans to go on New Year's Eve, 2024. We sat in the front dining room area with the bar, not in the back. The atmosphere was nice, the music was soft and it wasn't too crowded so my husband and I can actually hear each other. So, it started out well but went downhill afterwards. The food tasted ok, it wasn't amazing, we definitely had better sashimi and sushi elsewhere. But the portions compared to what they were charging was what bothered us. It was very little food, even the donburi we ordered were appetizer size, but they were over $30+. If the food tasted amazing, we would have forgiven the portions, but it was hard to overcome it since it tasted just average. We literally had to go get a second dinner somewhere else because we left hungry.
But what was more disappointing was that there was only 1 server attending to many tables out in the dining room area, and therefore, the service was very slow. I guess maybe the restaurant focuses more service for the back area where they have the omakase? We felt bad for the 1 server that was running around seating people, taking orders, serving and taking away plates all by himself, but not bad enough to be ok with the automatic 20% service fee they charge. If they are going to have that policy for every table (not just a large party) then they need to make sure the service is good/not slow.
In the end we were out $200+ for an unsatisfying meal with lacking service. We won't be going back, and we certainly will not be recommending this place to others.

Sushi Sato in San Francisco is a cozy gem with exceptional service. Yunus, our attentive bartender/waiter, made the experience unforgettable. The uni was simply divine. Highly recommend for a delightful sushi night!

This place no longer offers sushi and has a new name. It’s now an unusual Japanese Italian fusion restaurant that still has nice ambiance but the food was not at all what we were expecting.
I can't speak to the quality of the fish, but it certainly wasn't fresh. I expect better from Mins Group --- I know this isn't a top of the line sushi spot, but for the price point, they significantly underdelivered.
Our server was not attentive. We only ordered one fish and the food still took 1 hour to arrive. Meanwhile, the host did not check in, apologize, or acknowledge us during the wait. The restaurant was not busy relative to the service or wait we experienced. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Quality sushi expensive but worth it. Somewhat inventive like uni and caviar. Rolls with touches of gold powder and other variations that delight the palate and the eyes. We plan to go back. We were 6 people.

We had a fantastic dinner at Sushi Sato. Our favorites were the crab risotto and the house-brewed beers.

Have visited a few times with friends and girlfriend recently for dinner, and also hosted my girlfriend’s birthday dinner in June.
The manager, James, has made each and every visit special. The sushi is high quality, and the appetizers and bowls are tasty and creative. As a cocktail nerd, I also appreciate the house cocktails; they are classic cocktail variations that highlight a Japanese ingredient with restraint and well executed. Additionally, my girlfriend has a gluten allergy and the restaurant was able to accommodate even though gluten is in soy sauce.
On top of the food, the service is attentive and the restaurant is beautiful without being over the top. Looking forward to my next visit!

The music was loud and tacky considering the food was delicious and fresh. We actually left sooner than we wanted because we couldn’t stand the noise.

Intimate, modern ambience for date night or small gatherings. Food quality was great but overpriced, IMO. It's a more flashy, americanized sushi experience for the IG crowd than something traditional. I went with a small group for the soft re-opening last month. The neighborhood is a bit sketch- uber, don't walk. Creative cocktails and a wide selection of Japanese whiskey and wine. The small plates were better than the sushi. Appetizers (karaage, chirashi bowls) were good- great presentation, taste less so.

Truly outstanding experience. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The sushi is incredible. Get a tasting sampler or two and let that dictate what else you might order. We also got the crab risotto which was sublime. Drinks from cocktails to sake to whiskey were great. Can't wait to go back!
We had a really wonderful birthday dinner - the service was excellent and they helped us choose sake and whiskey and even had a special dessert for my husbands birthday. The sushi was really good.
