Oysters, clams, crab... everything seafood is superb. Especially the raw scallops - probably our favourite item.
Long queues though!
First time we managed to get seats without waiting (8:30am on Friday).
On the next day (Saturday 10:00am) it was a 90 minute wait! So decided to get a takeaway (20 mins wait!). It was still delicious, but not as nice as eating in!

Solid classic spot. Everything was delicious. Order the crabsanthemum and ask for the special dipping sauce. Also the crudo is a must. This is a popular place so either get here early or be prepared to wait. And bring cash! If you forget, there’s a few atms nearby. They let me run to one after my meal.

Monday 11am: about 35 min wait before entering. Bread & butter: hard to spread cold butter on room temp/cold bread; would've liked the bread to be warmed or toasted somehow.
Oysters were very fresh and clean! I could actually taste the difference between the types of oysters but sadly I did not know which was which.
Sicilian sashimi provided a nice variety of different fish, all fresh and tender; comes in small/medium/large sizes. I still prefer Japanese style sashimi but this was an interesting change and the fish was still very fresh.
Smoked salmon was standard good.
Service: plenty of nice staff assigned to other parties, ours--meh. Our server was hard of hearing, didn't appear fond of questions, and spoke softly/quickly while he was working, moving plates, serving, and walking away; so we never really got our questions answered or how the ordering process was. I'd say he'd be fine for locals who knew what they wanted quickly, but not too welcoming for first timers. Might come back for the oysters though!

BRING CASH :) and be prepared to wait! Around 10:15 on Saturday morning we waited 45 mins for two people. Everything we got was great but the smoked salmon really stood out.

Literally WOW. No words. The crab back blew my mind. The buttery salty heaven I didn't know I was missing all my life. Obviously the oysters are incredible and the staff here make this place the lively fun place that it is. A must visit

Iconic place, very special atmosphere, great seafood and very friendly staff. While eating at the bar, you can watch the seafood preparations. We had no waiting time at all on a Friday morning.

Cool little cash only seafood spot in SF. It also helps them that Anthony Bourdain vouches for it (may he rest in peace). My buddies and I got lucky; we waited in line for an hour which seems like seconds compared to other experiences.
Getting closer to the front door after paying your dues waiting line, you’ll see employees shamelessly scooping & handling shrimps & crabs without gloves, then proceeding to count cash at the register. Everyone always thinks ‘it won’t be me’ when it comes to stuff like getting hurt or sick.
Staff was very nice & helpful though, explaining everything we ordered. You just can’t help but feel a tinge of nastiness as you observe the cleanliness (or lack of) they practice. It’s impressive that each staff has their own unique way of perhaps deliberately being unsanitary.
A day later all three of us were spewing out both ends & had migraines that made our lips numb. Food poisoning should be part of their menu or at least put on the front door as a warning. Unless it’s already included in the pricing they have on their food.
Overhyped & overpriced for what it is. Proceed with caution unless you enjoy food poisoning.
