Fresh ingredients, great salsa. Tacos were average.

Bummed I didn’t try the birria which they are supposed to be known for based on the reviews which I only read just now. We had gone based on recommendation from a friend for fish tacos as husband was craving fish tacos, so for once I didn’t check both Google and yelp reviews ahead of time. I tried the beef tongue and tripe tacos which were both interesting. Beef tongue was tender and tasty. Would not get the tripe again, it was deep fried and little pieces which I didn’t expect as I had never had Mexican style tripe before, only Chinese preparation which is braised or in a stew. The tripe was also super fatty, which was also unexpected as the Chinese preparation of tripe is of the chewy part and I had never encountered or known that tripe could even be fatty. Otherwise was nice to get free chips and salsa (the tortilla chips seemed to be homemade and freshly fried, and were light and crispy and better in my opinion than many others that I had paid for at other restaurants. Service was prompt in getting our order in and for the check, although basically no service in between as it is a causal eatery and not a real restaurant. I had actually thought we were supposed to order at the counter when I first entered but the waitress told us to have a seat and came by to take our order.

Food excellent!!! Probably the best tacos in the bay area!!! I tried my first tamales here as well. If you do dine in the wait can be long!!!

Good food. Take out is the best

Great veggie burrito and veggie taco…best in the Mission in my opinion. They also have a lot of different salsa options. One last thing is that the times I’ve been there, they always give you warm tortilla chips.

I am so glad that a friend dragged me out for Cinco de Mayo, and especially that he picked El Patron. Like every other restaurant that night it was crowded, but the staff was very attentive, smiling, and friendly the whole time.

And the food! The best tacos I've ever had in 20 years in San Francisco for sure. These aren't those little wimpy appetizer tacos you get some places. Three tacos and I was absolutely full.

I got the first three on the menu: the beef birria with the amazing dipping sauce, the shrimp taco, and the breaded white fish on a bed of cabbage. Fresh ingredients, very hot, and so flavorful.

Everything was served right to the table, including HOT complimentary chips and they clear everything away when you leave. What could be better?

Their Taco de Pescado (fish taco) is also a standout. The fish is lightly battered and fried to golden perfection, topped with fresh slaw and a creamy sauce that balances the crunch and flavor beautifully. And don’t miss the Al Pastor taco—the marinated pork is packed with smoky, slightly sweet flavor, complemented by pineapple and cilantro. It’s the perfect mix of savory and tangy.

Highly recommend this spot for anyone serious about great tacos. The service is quick, the vibes are casual and friendly, and the food speaks for itself.

Shrimp tacos were crazy good!

We were in town for the weekend all the way from North Idaho. My daughter came across a Tik Tok video of their food and her one food request was coming here for birria. First off, the birria is phenomenal-even my husband who is a birria snob said it was the best consomme he has ever had. Nachos were also amazing, daughters bf got a burrito and said it was the best he has ever had. Highly recommend!!!!

Why ts so expensive

Excellent birria and tacos. Come with good sides nopales, refried beans, onions and radish and 4 different sauces. A generous serving of chip and salsa. Birria taco is good and consome not too oily. The Al Pastor Tace very tasty, can't wait to try to other meats. I see they have shrimp and fish tacos - which I can't wait to try soon.

Truly excellent meats at bargain prices! The birria burrito was perfection, while the fish tacos and chorizo burrito were solid. The burritos are humongous and packed with meat. The salsas are fresh and the pale creamy one packs an extraordinarily spicy punch. Fast preparation and easy pickup.
