What a great restaurant! The food is amazing! I love that you use the spongy, thin, bread to grab the food and eat that way. They also provide forks if you choose not to eat the traditional way. But they have a great menu with meat or vegetarian options. The sambussas are so good and have a little spice to them and the sauce they serve with them is amazing and spicy! Also love having Ethiopian beer with it. And finished it off with an Ethiopian tea. Can't wait to go back and try other items.

Best Ethiopian food I've had in the bay area. Lots of vegetarian options too. Tofu tibs is my favorite, all the sides are amazing too. Highly recommend.

Everything on the menu us delicious. I'm vegetarian so I go for those dishes. I have never been disappointed and a I have eaten Ethiopian food since the early 1980's. I am old, but I know what is good and this is the best in the city.

Gorgeous deep flavors. I had the vegetarian plate (sampling of four dishes). The red chickpea dish was outstanding, as were the beets and the dressing on the side salad. My friend commented when enjoying the portion I'd brought home that they liked how the food was not oversalted, thus you can taste the full flavors of the vegetables and spices. Beautiful clean food. The person who greeted me and took my order was super lovely; she in fact was my deciding factor to give it a try based on her enthusiasm for the food (that always helps!). The chef came out to check on me (granted, it was slow)--very warm and lovely. I requested a bit of the veg that had not been served up with the cabbage dish, and she was gracious about bringing it to me. The carrots in that dish really absorb the beautiful spices; I found the potatoes and cabbage needed more of the spice infusion. Beautiful injera, from my limited experience. Wonderful large photo art--done by a pair of S.F. architects (their write-up about their travels in Ethiopia is by the self-serve water station)--of people from the various tribes they encountered in their travels impressively covers the main walls of this casual but warm restaurant on the commercially developed stretch of 4th St just along from the UCSF Mission Bay campus. Very worth stopping in after any appointments/visits at the medical center! I appreciate that they have cushioned banquette seating along the windows. Continued success to you, House of Tadu! Ethiopian cuisine is the best best best! And it is always wonderful to learn and experience more of this rich and devout ancient culture. 🙏🧡

Cool modern Ethiopian restaurant! Meat and veggie combos were solid, and I especially enjoyed the dish with lamb and collards mixed. Would be even better if the dishes were served on top of an entire plate of injera (like most Ethiopian restaurants) rather than just a piece or two! But they give you plenty of injera on the side so it’s no big deal.

a cute modern n clean restaurant! i ordered the tofu tibs and the man at the counter recommended the spicy lentil dip as my side; it all came with enjera and side salad. the enjera arrived in 3 mins and the rest of the food took around 20, even though I was the only one there, that’s how you know they made it fresh!!! and it was so worth the wait. the salad had a healthy amount of olive oil, n the tofu tibs were actually insane. i’ve had ethiopian food before and nothing i’ve had was this flavorful and just plain delicious, the tofu was crunchy and sautéed with onions and bell peppers the depth of flavor was AMAZING. this is was so unexpectedly delicious the perfect combo of crunch and flavor. the spicy lentil dip was genuinely spicy and paired well w the enjera. the price to portion ratio was fair for san francisco. the bathroom was clean too. this was one of the best meals of my life and i wasn’t even hungry that’s how you know it’s good!

Had the Vegetarian Combo. Seemed like a smaller portion than other Ethiopian restaurants, but it was enough after all because the injara is filling. Perfect proportion of injara to food-Used all the injara to scoop up every drop of veggies.😋

Portions are very small! I didn’t feel full after getting tibs. Normally you would have extra leftovers from one meal!!! Go to Oakland if you want to try authentic Ethiopian food with good portions.
