I ordered eel rice in clay pot, the eel is over cook, and taste is not fresh, also, lettuce with garlic is a very small plate and charge $16 bucks, and the owner child play around the dinning area, i am ok with the kid play around, but the cook experience needs to improve.they also charge tip together in the bill without telling me. This is my first time eating there, and also it is my last time eating there.

I don't know how this place got such good review. The eel clay pot rice is quite expensive ($48) considering how little meat is in it, the menu claims one pound of eel but it was probably half pound. They charge 16% (more like 17% because it's after tax) tips automatically. There was very little service because it was under staffed. Ice water was room temp, I don't think they have an ice machine. Hot tea was also room temp. The cauliflower dish came with 2 giant pieces of pork fat. On the good side, the clay pot rice crust was very good and crispy.

Love the white eel clay pot, the meat is so soft and juicy. Highly recommend if you like Cantonese food.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. They automatically added gratuity to my bill without notifying me, regardless of my party size – even though I was dining alone! When I brought this up, the staff became very rude and dismissive instead of addressing my concerns. The service was non-existent; they simply brought the food to my table and did nothing else. Save yourself the frustration and find somewhere else to eat!!!

Brilliant pork, chicken rice and squid - perfect for a late night dinner after mai-tais down the street. The family that owns the restaurant are very hospitable and welcoming, would definitely be back to try out more!

Amazing Tai Shan restaurant!!! Recommendations:
1. Taishan beef bone soup (we also were told coconut chicken soup is their specialty) - this wasn’t salty, perfectly herbed, so yummmmmmyv
2. yellow eel clay pot rice - fresh water eels!
3. pork noodle roll - house made!
4. purple potatoes sesame balls - rare find usually it’s red bean

They said all dim sum is made in site and they use free range chicken - don’t get preserved pork cake

There as only 1 waitresss who was also the host and cashier. She was amazing and kind - management should hire at least 1 more person

And of course this place has less stars cuz it doesn’t cater to westerners but their is the obligatory kung pao plate but just ignore that. All the surrounding restaurants have tourists whereas this one is filled with Taishan people.

There's multiple Taishans (and they keep expanding!). Compared to other locations, the Broadway one has the biggest bonus of having the most tables and is my go-to for when I grab a larger party during dinner rush hours.

The food is mostly the same across the Taishans; it's comfort food and the price is good. However, the menu is a mix of hits and so-so dishes and I stick to what I know or what my friends recommend when I order.

I personally love the baked pork buns and recommend all their clay pot dishes. The clay pot dishes all have great crispy rice and the flavor I look for when I get a clay pot.

Bad customer service. The owner is very bitter and doesn't respond quickly.

The food was far too greasy. We had 6 dishes for 6 people. When paying with a credit card, we noticed that the waiter had automatically entered a very large tip. We were not informed of this. Disgraceful! Not a restaurant that can be recommended... pure rip-off!!! Stay away!!!!

Open at 2.15 am!! A real lifesaver in the middle of the night. Food was good, the best part was finding something open at this unearthly hour! Seems to be family run with owners talking too loudly, but give me my food and headphones and I could care less!

if you hate a sf local, please send them to Taishan Cuisine, for it’s hell. if you love a traveler, please send them to Taishan Cuisine, for its better than other tourist traps.
If you can understand the Chinese characters, please go out to the next room.
The eel rice has no eel flavor, but the five-digit duck has a strong fishy smell.
