I really wanted to like their food but it just wasn’t for me. The presentation was amazing, the host was super friendly and helpful and the overall ambience of the place was great.

First I learned the pronunciation of Donaji, a Oaxacan Princess, is (doh na hee).

A friend and I had margueritas: he had the Coco, and I had the Cadillac. Both drinks were delicious. There was no G4 Reposado, so they graciously swapped in another delicious, smokey Reposado.

We split a Mercado Ensalade, and there was plenty to split. The greens and oranges were fresh, and the pickled onions and hibiscus vinaigrette were just the right combination of sweet and sour.

He had the mole chicken enchiladas with a side serving of rice to ensure all the delicious mole was eaten. The combination of 26 ingredients blended to mole perfection was made for a flavor packed entree. I don't like mole, so I ordered the Mole Rojo Spare Ribs, without the mole sauce with a side of refried beans. What came to the table was the delicious Mole Rojo 1/4 chicken, without the mole sauce. I let them know I had ordered the Spare Ribs, and they apologized for the error, and said it would take a few minutes. I hated the thought that the chicken would go to waste and I decided to keep the different protein. I enjoyed a perfectly cooked piece of chicken, with a wonderfully spiced crispy skin with a small portion of pickled vegetables.

When our waiter returned with the dessert menus, he also brought two complimentary shots of Mezcal, orange slices an Tajin spice. The waiter again apologized for the order mix up. The smokey Mezcal was very smooth, and the orange slice and Tajin spice really elevated the taste.

We split the Churro Donut with warm chocolate sauce. Again, like all the other food, the churro was perfectly crisp and without any deep fried oily-ness. We struggled to use all the silky smooth, pourable chocolate sauce!

We both felt <$60/ person without tip was reasonable for the quality. At 6 PM parking in yellow loading zones on 24th Street was readily available. On a Wednesday night a DJ started to mix at around 8:45 PM. The DJ was experimenting with the sound volumes and eventually got it right, so conversation could be said & heard across the table.

This is definitely a place I'd recommend to friends and family.

Definitely a place to return to

Really good chicken mole enchiladas. The mole is a bit spicy and sweet. I do wish they came with rice. Had a reservation for two outside but was able to get seated inside with no problem.

So my choices were Italian, Thai or Oaxaca. That is a wide spread of cuisine by location and taste. As I walked by all three places, the menus at all three were enticing, but what drew me to Donaji was the liveliness inside. No regrets I always wanted to try food from the Southern Mexican region plus they have a pretty solid bar to go along with their food.
We kept it simple ,
Guacamole with chips and grinded crickets, cauliflower tacos and braised rips with corn.
The guacamole was spot on , I wish the crickets were served as a whole piece but grinded. The cauliflower tacos, I give them a nice. Crunchy good flavor but the highlight was the braised ribs. They melted on my tongue and the mole was not overpowering the ribs but ever so slightly supporting them. The corn was a nice way to round out the various flavors and yes worth mentioning are their margaritas. Haven't had as good as last night since my last visit to Mexico.
Congrats chef well done

I don't know where to begin, a jewel of The Mission. The food is magic, the staff caring and chill, the drinks creative and delicious. The music was maybe a little loud, but then it was good music, so we didn't mind. The atmosphere brought us into the spirit of the food, down to the tasteful menus and colorful decorations. This is a repeat, 100%

Grapefruit cocktail? Solid. Cauliflower tacos starter? Looked promising but zero salt, zero seasoning. Just about passable. And then… it all went downhill.

The chicken mole? Thin, dark broth trying to pass as mole. No richness, no flavor, no depth — not even a whiff of grandma’s kitchen. The Tlayuda — the so-called Mexican pizza — was all show, no flavor. Just a big crunchy base with nothing going on.

And let’s talk about the biggest oxymoron of the night: calling this Oaxacan cuisine. If this is grandma’s recipes, grandma forgot how to cook.

And of course, my brother and sister from SF are out here hyping this up like it’s some hidden gem. Michelin star or not, if this is the kind of taste they’re promoting, we’ve got a real problem. Mission high? Nah. This was Mission low.

Taco Bell makes yummier food. There, I said it.

The vibes of this restaurant were really nice. We were able to reserve last minute tables which is nice. Overall the food was quite good and tasty but I personally didn't enjoy the cricket flavor. Everything seemed to be cooked and seasoned well though.

Surprised by all the five star reviews. I love good Mexican food, but this was not good. The food was mediocre, the flavors were lacking. The service was slow and hectic. The prices were also high. We tried several appetizers and mains and left feeling disappointed - and confused by why this was so highly reviewed - don’t expect too much.

Fantastic food and drinks, this place really hits that niche of authentic elevated sit down Mexican without being too fancy, expensive, or formal. A go to for a meal with friends in the area.

It is a 5 star restaurant. My meal was fresh and the taste was impeccable also the atmosphere was clean not a spec of dirt. It was my best experience in a restaurant this is now my favorite restaurant! My daughter Layla

The food was delicious. I had the tuna crudo, the queso fundido apps and the braised beef short rib for my entree. I would highly recommend the three dishes.

The service at this place was outstanding. They were quick, kind, and attentive. The gentleman who helped us went above and beyond with his service. He whipped up a spectacular cocktail before our food came out. When our food came out, which didn't take long after ordering, it was plated very elegantly and it had excellent flavor to follow. I would recommend the soyrizo enchiladas smothered in green sauce not just to the vegetarians that visit this place.

Vegetarian options: There were several options for vegetarians. Not limited to one item.
