Karaage was really good, ramen was not my favorite but they are trying to make affordable ramen in the high rent district

Lunch - Chicken Katsu I have had the Chicken Katsu 3 times now it is consistently made with quality chicken and a nice light batter. It comes with a small side rice and some cabbage the sauces compliment everything! I can't speak for the Ramen because noodle me is just across the street and that is my go to place for quick ramen. The happy hours looks like a good deal - wine selection is nice.

We came here for lunch during the work week, looking forward to trying some ramen. As is usual, I was on the hunt for good veggie ramen, something that's hard to find as most places give you very few options or a weak soup base. I had hopes as their menu boasted a range of broth options so I was looking forward to seeing if this expanded into their vegetarian soup. Sadly, it didn't seem that this was the case. Unlike the meat-based ramens where there was a whole choice of options for broths, I was limited to just a vegetable stock and one assortment vegetables. Well, hopefully it'll be amazing? Ehhh, it wound up being just ok: not mind-blowing or overly-flavourful or anything to really jump out. My partner's ramen, on the other hand, was really well done and amazing (according to him, I didn't sample it) and he definitely enjoyed it. There were a few other appetizers and options on the menu, but the vegetarian ramen was not the highlight for me at least. We might return in the future as my partner did really like his soup but I'll pass on it in the future and try something else.

First off, be forewarned - I have been to Tokyo and had ramen there, so my review might be a little biased. Now, keeping that in mind, I will do my best to not compare this place with the real deal. I went around 11:30 on Friday. There were about five people seated and no line. I was immediately seated, and the waiter noticed I hadn't even glanced at the menu so he came over and took my order. I ordered the Edo Ramen which the menu says is Tokyo style. My bowl was brought out in about five minutes which was just about right. You don't want to overcook the noodles so they are too soft. Also, the temperature was perfect, not quite scalding hot. The noodles were pretty good, but that's easy to get in the city (San Francisco for the non-locals). There was a generous amount of bean sprouts, "mushrooms" (actually a type of fungus found in Japanese cuisine), pork, a half soft-boiled shoyu egg, and some corn. (It was sweet corn. Ew!) Now... as they say, the proof of the pudding is in the tasting. Ramen is all about the broth and the noodles. That broth of theirs was just lacking something. It didn't have that umami taste I was hoping for. The bill (ramen and water) came out to $14. There was a note saying credit cards would only be accepted for totals over $15. I kind of rolled my eyes and pulled out $15 from my wallet. For the meal and the experience, they come in at a solid three stars. I might go back to try other dishes, but I'll be testing the waters (broths?) at other shops.

Could be fine for post-work catch up over drinks and some nibbles but don't make the trek just on the account of ramen. Soju cocktails buy 1 get the second for $1. They have a variety of appetizers but we only had the furikake fries. I had the Tonkotsu ramen and it was fine. The broth wasn't very deep or complex but I wouldn't say it lacked flavor. Noodles had a decent bite. If this was take-out ramen at lunch I wouldn't be mad but there are better places to really enjoy it post-work. Overall it was fine for dinner albeit unmemorable. But on the other hand the folks here are pretty nice and it's not crowded after work which is rare for the FiDi.

Deep fried oysters were Delicious! Not real ramen, definitely not good but not bad enough that you wouldn't eat it again if you were really hungry and cold. Isn't that sad? There is a sign outside that says they have $1 Oysters on Thursday so I'm hoping to find an opportunity to try that out because if their happy hours aren't good I don't know how they will survive as a restaurant. The service is really good and the waiters are nice and helpful. I came here for ramen because I really wanted to eat ramen. It tasted a little like Ajisen Ramen but more expensive. Tarara is located in FiDi and there aren't that many restaurants that serve ramen during lunch hour so I am happy they exist.

I came here because it's a place I went on the first date with my wife. I was curious how it changed over the years including the name. I found the place clean and the people helpful. One thing that I noticed when I first walked in that might help the business a little bit, is that they seem to only have two people working a bartender/host and a waiter/runner at lunch on a Tuesday. . And I think they lost a customer or two just because they made them wait a little too long at the front. When all the tables are not full And someone is waiting I think you should seat them quickly. Just a suggestion to the business I think it will give them a good name and also help them keep more business. Because every other restaurant in the area is packed at lunchtime and they could be too as long as they are dotting their I's and crossing their T's. I came in because I was early for a business lunch. So I got a couple of appetizers including edamame and deep fried veggies aka tempura. Both of these were satisfactory and other vegetables are really good. Actually. I also asked for an Arnold Palmer and the bartender said he did not have lemonade but he recommended a hibiscus blend which was delicious. So I give him credit for having a good suggestion there and making my wait time for my meeting very pleasurable. I sat at the bar which was empty at this time but the seating was comfortable and it was open and airy and overall a good place to jump in for a quick vegetarian snack and hibiscus tea. Perhaps the next time I'm there I'll have an entrée. I will give them four stars to start out. But because I only had appetizers and a T I don't want to go strongly in either direction. And even though three stars is actually considered OK you're good, in this day and age of inflated grades and scores giving someone a three is actually a bad thing so I will start them off before and update more the next time I visit. I will definitely give them four stars though for the comfort and relaxed vibe.

I was very hesitant about writing this review because my friends who invited me there apparently know the owner or manager, so I went there last Friday ( a week ago) first I though it was weird the place was empty and literally the only group there was my friends group. So I stayed and ordered few drinks 4 to be exact, I gave my card to keep my tab open. At the end of the night when I was leaving I asked for the check. When I get a bill for a lot of different dishes and drink

When I get a bill for a lot of different dishes and drinks that I never order. I though a human mistake they said they corrected it and gave me a second bill for my 4 drinks which I paid. Next day (Saturday morning) I realized I still have the charge for the food and drinks I never consume Or order. So I message the restaurant they promptly reply and said that they'll fix it ASAP. Then never happened I was ignored for the entire week until today when they say they'll process the refund. I was shocked when I went to my account and discover that they have refund me then4 drinks I ordered but keep the 128 that they charge me for food and drinks I never ordered! Smth!! This place is a joke I would never go back or recommend this place to any of my friends. They promote cheap drinks buy one get one for 1 dollar but once you give them your credit card they are gonna run it however they want. What a scam!!! Be aware don't ever give your credit card to this place !!!!!

Nice ramen spot in the Financial District. I like their spicy tonkotsu broth. The chashu was okay, not as flavorful as I would like, but overall a decent soup. They also have good seasoned fries.

Great experience. Went their for lunch in December and had the Tonkatsu Ramen. So good! Highly recommend.

Ordered spicy tonkotsu ramen but it came out as non-spicy. Waiter (was also attending the bar at the time didn't double check upon receiving order. I ended up keeping it for the sake of time. Order mixups happen all the time so I'm not making a big deal out of it. But during this entire time and even when someone who appeared to be manager/owner (based on his casual attire) returned to hand me the check, there wasn't even a single mention of apology.

Service was off. We had to ask for water, though I suppose this is becoming more and more common. Then our food was brought out and we weren't provided utensils or napkins; had to ask for those too. My tan tan noodles were not particularly memorable so overall not a great experience.

The food was good, and clerk was nice.
