Perfect place for quick bites before symphony concert. Didn’t get a table when we walked in at 6:15 despite the fact that there were many empty tables. We were guided to the bar. Food was very tasty and the only issue was some of the peanuts in the tea salad were not fresh. Also when we felt the steak was too raw and asked if the dish could be cooked a little more, the guy who delivered the dish was obviously upset but he did take it back to kitchen after mumbling something about California law which we were not sure what he was talking about. The steak came back perfect. Hen of the wood/fried maitake mushrooms is a must try. Overall we enjoyed the meal and spent $135 for two people ordered two nonalcoholic drinks, three appetizers and one steak main dish. Portions are on the small side.

Fantastic food! The tea leaf salad is excellent. We shared the lemongrass steak which was delicious, especially with the garlic rice. The service was a bit disruptive and awkward, and the atmosphere quiet (although it was a Wednesday night). A great spot for food on a casual date night or dinner with friends, but less so if you’re looking for something elevated or vibey

Service was great and so was the atmosphere, but the tea leaf salad tasted quite flat. The Khao Soi and drinks were good, but I think I would prefer to go to Burma Love instead for the much more menu options and tea leaf salad.

It was great. I really appreciated the fact that they were able to swap the pad thai noodles with rice noodles, for my shrimp pad thai order.

Food was great, the teakwood box option was great choice for first timer. Definitely recommend going with that menu of it's your first time.
Only one complaint is they should have more staff to manage service. My friends and I went there 12/26 and the place got packed but only one server was there and can tell ther person got overwhelmed. The server gave her best despite the crowd size but one person alone to manage is too much.

Only the plata was good. The tofu in the garlic noodles was very hard (like beyond meat). Service was very slow (even though the place was not busy) and food was average. Waitress kept staring at us while we had to select tip amount. Would not recommend this place to anyone ever. Burma superstar and Burma love have way better food and service.

The food was a bit slow, but it tasted good. The restaurant itself looked pretty inviting and decorated.

On the last day before the rain hit, I decided to take a stroll through San Francisco. I came across a chic little restaurant called Teakwood on the corner. 80s music in the background with expensive table settings: Very San Francisco.
I sat at the bar and ordered the Burmese Lemonade, Samusas and the Superstar Fried Rice. Here's what was strange: The fried rice was super greasy, but the choice to add palm sugar in the Burmese Lemonade instead of traditional brown sugar seemed hilariously like an effort to provide a healthier option, as if the inspiration for the rice and the lemonade came from two different people.
Nothing I could do would save the rice. Lime, salt....I even asked for the topping provided from the Samusas. It was a lost cause.
Of course it was all $60. Lol.
So here's the thing: I've had Burmese food before and it was incredible. I'm not really sure what this was. Much like the vibe when I walked in, the food is a collage of flavor that can't seem to make a decision what it wants to be when it grows up.
I've had better rice for much less. Unfortunately will not revisit.

Blow away by the flavors created here!!Everything we ordered was a 10/10.
For drinks, we had the mango lassi and lychee grapefruit mocktail.
For starters, chicken satay and tea leaf salad.
For main course, we had the aged duck curry and the garlic noodles with shrimp.
Ambiance was on point.
My only complaint is that the waitress didn’t ask if we wanted rice with the curry so we assumed it would come with. We didn’t see a server for a while so just ate it without rice cause it was still bomb😂

We were in the area and decided to have dinner. Saturday night, no reservation. We got there at 8pm,we got a table right away.
We ordered several dishes, they were all excellent.
The service was good, the ambience nice and welcoming. A little noisy and a little cold, but those are minor details.
I would definitely like to go back and bring friends.

I love this food. It's so complex and flavorful! It's also very comforting. We shared the coconut chicken curry, coconut rice, platha, and garlic noodles with shrimp. It was all wonderful. I came a few months ago and got the same things. I felt like things tasted a little different but were still very good, which was interesting.
The lunch menu is lacking - no protein options without added carbs (bread, noodles). I was disappointed as the online menu doesn't indicate there is a different lunch menu.
Onetable reservations are only held for 90 minutes. That was not disclosed at time of booking or when we arrived. It was only mentioned 10 minutes before they had to turnover the table. We did not have time to try dessert. Either way, service was lousy, food mediocre compared to their sister restaurants, and drinks were not well mixed. Will stick to Burma love/superstar locations only
It was good, but not as good as I remembered. The tea leaf salad was mediocre. Our other dishes were very good. Our cocktails were excellent. It was noisy, so a little hard to have conversation. Location is great for SFJazz shows.
