I love sitting at the sushi bar and chatting with Steve. The quality is impeccable and Steve always has great suggestions. It's a neighborhood favorite full of regulars and a great place for folks who are visiting SF and who want to get a feel for the real San Francisco.

The fish is excellent and both Steve and Ken (the sushi chefs) know how to prepare it. You want get sushi this good at close to this price anywhere else in the city. And it is friendly and unpretentious!

Hands down my favorite sushi in SF. The fish is always fresh and the highest quality. Steve is always coming up with new things to test out and will curate your whole meal for you, trust him, he’s the best and you’ll leave full and highly entertained.

Best sushi in SFO! Steve is a magician behind the bar and knows most of his customers personally and their likes. It’s a much deserved Fillmore institution!!!

Ten-ichi is my Cheers! I never go and don’t see fellow regulars, and the staff and owners are personal friends. Steve, the owner and sushi chef, will never let you place an order or eat a piece of sushi that isn’t fresh and phenomenal. If you want great sushi and top notch Japanese food join us regulars. If you are looking for a pampered dining experience with sub par food, it’s best to stick to the Embarcadero.

Dietary restrictions: If people have food allergies they are easily accommodated. However, if you have a very restricted diet, it may be best to go to a specialized restaurant.

Kid-friendliness: Locals bring their families all the time and either sit at a table or at the sushi bar. Steve and his sister love kids and gets them to try new things!

House sauce is killer, top notch service and sushi

Great local sushi spot that has a nice selection of sushi. The sushi chef will come up with dishes you will like by asking you about your preferences. I went on a Thursday evening and was treated to multiple dishes while talking with the chef at the bar

It is nice when a new restaurant moves into ones neighborhood, and the expectation is that it will provide an additional pleasant dining option. But it is especially nice when one's " go to" restaurant has been around for about forty years, and the quality of the food, ambiance, friendliness, the feeling of being welcomed and sense of 'belonging' never wavers. That is particularly special. And that is the case at my favorite Japanese restaurant in the world, Ten-Ichi on Fillmore street in San Francisco.
My favorite beer is Asahi--and that came to be because of how delicious the Asahi is when served with a meal at TenIchi. The Asahi at Ten-Ichi is just more delicious than anywhere else I've had it. Subjective yes, but certainly true for me! I love the Asahi with a Beef Teriyaki at Ten-ichi. And I love it with their Chicken and spicy green bean. And I love it with their delicious varieties of Sushi--my favorite has always been the Hamachi, but the tuna and avocado roll is exceptional. But, of course, every sushi that I have ever eaten at Ten Ichi has been exceptional.
On the cold winter nights, I love the Soba noodle dish with vegetables and pieces of beef. I love it all at Ten Ichi.
My kids grew up eating at Ten-ichi and whenever they would come home from college it is the first place they wanted the family to go--they had cravings for Ten-Ichi. And, of course, it was just such a treat to re convene at our family restaurant home on Fillmore Street.
Steve, one of the family owners of the restaurant, has taken over from his parents, and pours his heart and soul into the restaurant. I've known him since before his high school years, would connect with him when he would come back and help out during his college years, and he feels like family today.
We share a special bond--our love for the San Francisco Forty Niners. But don't let that stand in the way of coming to Ten-Ichi if you are a fan of another team. You'll be welcomed with love and friendship.
I love this restaurant and the spirt of the people that serve here.
You'll be treated as a special guest immediately, and in time you'll be like family. Ten-Ichi is a neighborhood treasure. Have the Asahi with the Beef Teriyaki--my favorite combination. But you'll definitely come up with your own favorites.
