During our stay at 1 Hotel, we stopped into Terrene (the restaurant on site) for breakfast one morning. The space is very elegant, but the service model is casual: order at the counter, take a number, and seat yourself. The staff bring your food to the table, but everything else - condiments, napkins, etc. is self-serve.

We ordered a matcha latte, mango smoothie, two breakfast plates, and coffee. The food overall was decent. You can't go too wrong with bacon and eggs, and the sourdough toast stood out as particularly good. The side salad and breakfast fingerling potatoes were welcome touches, though the potatoes were noticeably heavy on the salt.

One thing I wish they offered - or at least advertised- was more adult drink options at breakfast. A mimosa or Bloody Mary would have been a nice addition. I noticed they have a full bar, so it's possible they could make them, but if so, it wasn't mentioned anywhere on the menu board.

I imagine Terrene might shine more at dinner but if you're looking for a quick, upscale-feel breakfast without full service, it works!

Terrene in San Francisco feels like one of the city's hidden gems, definitely underrated. We originally came for breakfast (which ends at 11am) and had just missed it, so we stayed for lunch and were not disappointed

The space is located within a hotel and has more of a causal service process where you order first, seat yourself and the food is brought out to your table via a number tag.

We ordered the Harissa chicken bowl, a matcha latte with coconut milk, and an açaí smoothie. The chicken bowl was fantastic, super fresh, vibrant ingredients, perfectly grilled chicken, sweet onions and veggies, fluffy grains, and a flavorful sauce that brought everything together beautifully

The matcha latte tasted like it was made with ceremonial grade matcha: smooth, rich, and not too sweet. The coconut milk complemented it perfectly without overpowering. The açaí smoothie was also a hit: fresh and refreshing

The vibe of the place is stunning, it reminds me of the Public Hotel in NYC meets The LINE in LA. Minimal, modern, and thoughtfully designed. It's right by the Embarcadero, which makes it a great spot to start a walk along the waterfront (just be prepared for SF parking chaos)

The prices are a bit on the higher end, but the quality and experience make it well worth it. 100/10 would come back, and finally try the breakfast!

Came here for a double date and it was so pretty inside!

Good:
- The plates all come pretty quickly - babaganoush with the pita came out super quickly and generous portion of pita
- The lamb pita was delicious - small but the meat was very juicy
- The ice cream dessert was huge - and great for sharing! Super refreshing too
- The veggies were all scrumptious - the elote stuck out the most with the corn and super tasty sauce.

Bad:
- Pretty expensive for pretty small plates, portions are very small
- Hard to flag down the waiters
- Brussel sprouts were just average, the shakshuka was a bit too lightly flavored for me

Overall this was a nice upscale date experience!

My family owns restaurants, and I enjoy fine dining throughout the country. We were recently staying at Hotel 1 in San Francisco and were able to fit in the Saturday Brunch. The Sweet Potato Waffle was amazing, along with the recommendations that Anthony, the GM, made for us. They continue to exceed our expectations with the quality and flavors of their menu, as well as the warm ambiance and exceptional service. I highly recommend this restaurant!

The only thing we wanted was a Bloody Mary. Couldn’t order at the bar but at a window. $21 each for a tiny drink and no garnish. Might have gone back during our stay. But nope.

Exquisite service and lovely food. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Good outdoor or indoor with heat lamps and an extensive cocktail menu.

I enjoyed lunch here I ordered their specialty cheese pizza, and the service was excellent. The staff was attentive and ensured we had everything we needed. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere on an island, making it a great place to unwind.

Lovely restaurant with a beautiful ambience. The highlight is the huge outdoor patio with stylish and comfortable seating and a view of the Embarcadero waterfront. Menu has lots of vegan and gluten-free options. Friendly helpful staff.

Been there for breakfast. Food is very mediocre, coffee is awful and personal is nowhere near being friendly.

My husband and I are both born and raised in the SF Bay Area and were in the city for a weekend staycation.

Dinner starts at 4pm and the host was nice enough to seat us about 5-10 mins early = Good Service

Once our waiter (Kayla) came, she was very welcoming and friendly. She walked us through the menu and recommended drink items based on our taste. Her service was excellent and the staff never let my water cup go empty.

The food was 3 out of 5 stars. The salmon was mediocre, and of all things, the fries were OK. Brussel sprouts and skirt steak were very good and worth ordering again. The restaurant & bar has a view of the Bay Bridge and w beautiful view of the water and East Bay.

Overall, the biggest turn off was the 'HealthySF' charge of $13.86 (9% added charge). My husband was more forgiving and he convinced me to let it go. Of all the restaurants we ate at this weekend, Terrene was the ONLY place that charged a HealthySF tax. WEAK!
