We've eaten here a few years back, but this is the first time leaving a review. We wanted something a little different and not just pho, so we opted for this spot. We got there around noon and there were a a bunch of empty tables. Most of the booth tables were taken though. Just so you know, they give complimentary soy milk served hot or cold, but you have to ask for it. I think only old timers/regulars know about this. My bf got a hot soy milk and I chose hot tea. We both ordered noodle soup. #3. NG HIEP KY WONTON HO FUN SOUP: Flavorful soup with seafood, liver and wonton dumplings with medium flat rice noodles. The noodles are not the typical Chinese ho fun that is really wide. It's like linguini sized rice noodles. They give an average amount, but good enough to fill you. I don't care for liver, so I didn't eat it. But everything else was good! They also have a shrimp on top that's been fried with batter. I grabbed that first since I'd rather have it crispy than soggy. 4/5 #12. BRAISED DUCK LEG HO FUN AND EGG NOODLE SOUP: BF had this and enjoyed it. Tasty duck and having both kinds of noodles bring an interesting taste and texture. Not many places have this dish or in this area of SF. 4/5 All around a decent spot for a quick lunch!

This place definitely gives homey vibes and I really liked that! We were sat initially upon walking in, and a family of 3 ended up being sat next to us, which was new to me, but did not affect our stay at all. I got the Won Ton Noodle soup and it was very yummy! I would say 5/5 to be honest after additions of sriracha and hoisin sauce. I also got the homemade soy milk, but was not a fan to be honest, I would give that about 2.5/5, with it tasting a little bland. The prices are very good here, and the service was very friendly.

I came here after hiking in San Francisco. I had #22 on the menu Mi Hai San with soup. First impression the soup is not as good as Mi Hai Ky in Tenderloin. But is not bad to the point you can't finish the whole bowl.

Tl;dr - if you need a hangover pick-me-up that isn't as heavy as pho or ramen, this is the spot. The menu is extensive and a bit puzzling to read, so don't be afraid to ask for clarification on what type of noodles come with your soup. Bonus for the complimentary soy milk. I came here on MLK day as a first timer, although I've tried teochew-style noodles at Hai Ky in the Tenderloin. This spot has all sorts of permutations of egg noodle or ho fun (AKA wide flat rice noodle) soups. Although they seem to be known for their duck noodle soups, I got the #44 (shredded chicken ho fun soup) cause I'm personally not the biggest duck fan. I like how the broth is light yet flavorful, and you can adjust to your liking with spice condiments. I do think it could have come with more chicken, though. I blazed through that first. Will be back to try the hu tieu as I've been curious about it o:

My in laws were visiting, so we decided to come here for lunch. It was pretty packed when we arrived but luckily they had a big table for the 5 of us near the register. Apparently they are known for their won tons and egg noodles so my husband ordered #7 Braised Duck Leg with Won Ton Thick Egg Noodle (with soup on the side). He said it was really tasty, especially dipping everything in the soup. I ordered the #35 Satay Beef Ho Fun Soup. The noodles were probably overcooked because they fell apart. The flavor of the satay couldn't have been more tastier. This is a very clean hole in the wall with very friendly staff.

Get the braised duck leg noodle soup. I got mine with thin egg noodles, and it reminds me so much of Hai Ky in the TL. The only thing missing from it is the fried Chinese donut that goes so well with the broth! Their Vietnamese iced coffee is excellent as well, you can tell it's quality coffee they're using. The drink is nicely chilled, with a great balance of sweet and bitter. It's very strong, which is how I like my cafe sua da. Service is really nice but can be a bit slow when they get busy. It's not their fault at all (they're very popular) so I'm not faulting them, just want to make it clear so others can keep that in mind. Everybody here is very nice!

My favorite restaurant in the city. No frills, kind service, amazing and consistent food. Hangover cure to boot.

Fantastic noodle soup, good prices, and prompt service. Came on New Year's Day and got a table with no wait at 430pm. My partner and I both ordered the duck leg noodle soup with wontons. The duck was rich and tender and the wontons were absolutely fantastic. I ordered a thin - I think egg - noodle, which was not my favorite but it seems I may have ordered poorly, still very good. Nice broth, particularly after adding a little chili oil and hoisin. $14 per bowl of noodles felt like a good deal, food came out very fast. Atmosphere is booths and vinyl tile floors, nothing fancy, though thst did not stop someone from pulling up in a Lamborghini sports car and coming in while I was there.

First time coming to Thai Nghiep. I had it saved in my collections and was crazy a soup. We went in on New Year's Day around 12:30pm, it was busy but they move fast once someone is done so we got a table for two people almost immediately. We noticed everything appeared to be very clean specifically all the sauces and utensils on the table which was appreciated. We ordered the braised duck leg wonton noodle soup; one with egg noodle and the other with ho fun. We also ordered egg rolls that came in a set of 8 small items. They ask if you want your soup on the side or in the bowl and we chose in the bowl. However, once the food came we realized on the side may have been better so the soup doesn't suck up the flavor. Everything was so deliciously seasoned especially the duck leg that had so much flavor and the meat fell off the leg. It comes with a small side of pickled cucumber and carrots and it hit the spot. Can't wait to go back.

Came here on NY day for a late lunch (1:30pm). Had to put my name on a list, which went rather quickly. The place is quite small with a capacity of about 46. One person takes your order and two others help out with bringing the tea and food. They don't come around with a tea pot to make sure you always have a full cup of tea. When you ask for more tea, they will take your cup and bring it back full. Food is served hot and mostly fresh. Meaning, meatballs are likely from frozen, they do not taste house made. Egg noodles were very good, and toothsome. Egg rolls were hot and crunchy but didn't seem to have any meat in them; I believe they were taro filled. This is a noodle house so they had a good variety of noodle soups. No rice or cold Vermicelli dishes. Good place for a hot bowl of noodle soup.

This place is far from Chinatown but it was so good. The broth is so refreshing and savory. The owner (I think) is very nice. Everything came out really fast.

Used to live in Tenderloin and Hai Ky was such a gem to be close to. Finally discovered this spot after almost 3 years of living in the Sunset. Delicious braised duck leg and dry noodles, as well as a generous amount of complimentary pickles in a takeout order. Cant wait to eat there with their hot soymilk on the side!

Fish Cakes, fresh soy milk, and Hu Tieu. Hủ tiếu or Hủ tíu is a dish eaten in Vietnam as breakfast. It may be served either as a soup or dry with no broth. This is the only place I know of on this side of the city that serves a good Hu Tieu outside Hai Ky in the tenderloin and the locals know this as well. The staff is friendly and attentive however the service can drag if it gets crowded, especially at lunchtime on the weekends with many locals coming for the large portions, comforting flavors, and great value they offer here. Overall, an excellent place to enjoy Chinese-Vietnamese comfort food on Noriega Street.

San Francisco Outer Sunset hidden gem. Attentive service and bowls of soup for the soul. Heavily recommend this place. It's my go to whenever I'm a little hung over or under the weather
