Went with a friend who hasn't been to this bar since the 90's. She says it hasn't changed much, just not as many musicians as patrons. Almost felt like a NY local bar. Good drinks.
500 club was a highlight of our trip. Low key, vibey casual bar. The bartender was friendly and welcoming (haven’t been able to say that about several places in sf). Brunette female bartender working on Tuesday night - thank you! We drank scotch and sour - she offered to shake them which was nice and always included a few delicious cherries. This spot is divey perfection. The drinks are delicious, strong, and cheap. They fresh squeeze limes to make your margarita. Super clean bathrooms. Service is good, no nonsense, sometimes humorous and always efficient. I live nearby and have to stop myself from going too often cus I don't wanna be a lush. They're also dog friendly and I love getting some free pets from the puppers. I'm always proud to take friends to my local spot.
