Sadly this was a massive disappointment! We traveled from out of state to celebrate a milestone birthday. We were not greeted by the hostess (later to find out she was the manager). Our server did not welcome us or introduce himself (never did learn his name). We waited over 30 minutes to order a drink. So we ordered drinks (wine by the glass) and food. Food came first! Table near us has been there a lot and they were having issues with food and service. Manager was incredibly rude to them and rolled her eyes as she left the table. Food - less than average. Burger was undercooked. Homemade chicken nuggets had a hair in them. We didn't finish food and left.

A comfortable meal in a dressed up British themed pub....servers were polite but inconsistent with their service...food was good the cocktails were fine...thanks

A great selection of UK beers.

We told the restaurant it was our friend’s birthday, expecting at least a small dessert or some kind of gesture. Instead, they brought out an empty plate with a single candle stuck in the middle. No cake, no treat — just a candle on a bare plate. It honestly felt lazy and disrespectful. If that’s how they handle special occasions, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking to celebrate anything.

The spicy chicken dish was crazy good. The most tender chicken of my life. Also had some fries which were incredible. I didn't have a cocktail but my friends loved theirs, particularly the martini. Beautiful dining area, would definitely go back.

Made reservation for wife's 50th bday. Get there, restaurant as 25% full. Was seated at a small table by doorway. I asked for a table where we could sit side by side due to hearing issue. Was told they had too many reservations to accommodate our request. Instead they seated us at the end of the bar where we could sit next to each other. My cushion was soggy! Scotch egg was good but a bit salty. Next was the heirloom salad/starter. A great idea, short on the heirloom tomato, long of the fried capers, which made it too salty even after pushing the capers to the side. Next was the steak tartare. Once again, over salted, looked brown instead of the bright natural meat color. They use no bread so the root chips were a bit odd to eat with. Not much flavor, would not order it again. The server was quite nice and did her job well. Gave us a complimentary glass of house champagne for 50th bday celebration, even though we had already had two glasses of Rose champagne. Chose not to order any more items due to the food we did order was not very good at all. What made things worse, when we were leaving , the restaurant was still mostly empty. Snooty manager with attitude and smirk on his face. We went to our hotel to continue eating. Will never return nor will we ever recommend this place and told the concierge at our hotel, St Regis of our experience. Very disappointing 50th bday celebration dinner. To think of all of the restaurants in SF, we chose this one. My bad!

The Cavalier is one of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Our favorites are the Marlow burger and the deviled eggs but everything on the menu is tasty. My wedge salad was huge, delicious and perfect for an entree.

Every time I come for dinner it never disappoints. From being greeted by the maître d to the service. Highly recommend.

Lovely ambiance, great food, and excellent service. We had dinner before an event, and the staff ensured we had plenty of time to make our event without feeling rushed. We will definitely be back again.

They clearly have no idea what they're doing—starting with the maître d', then the server, and ultimately the kitchen. As for the chef? Let's just say you'd be better off eating anywhere else.

We visited The Cavalier in San Francisco and were immediately struck by its vintage charm. The décor has a gorgeous, moody elegance with rich red tufted seating that made the space feel like a classic old-style restaurant. We had a reservation for 6:45 p.m., arrived a few minutes early, and were seated right away. The staff was kind and patient, making us feel comfortable throughout the evening. We ordered the burger, fish and chips, and a few cocktails. The Pinot Noir paired perfectly with the burger, while the spicy margarita and espresso martini were both flavorful and well crafted. The food was solid — tasty and satisfying — but what really stood out was the beautiful ambiance and the overall vibe of the restaurant. It's a place where the atmosphere and cocktails elevate the experience.

The most arrogant and dismissive server ever. Food was good. Service was horrific. Never again
